Very good revolver, congratulations, I value quality more than quantity, it is better to have a good pistol than several mediocre ones.

Nope, not a safe queen. Its got some wear, I just don't highlight it.
A close friend loaded me a couple hundred "warm" .44 Mag rounds for it. I just haven't taken it to the range yet.

I'm at least the third owner. I really don't know how many hands it has passed through.
It was originally shipped Los Angeles, CA. The person I got it from lived here in Utah and never did live in CA.
So at minimum I'm the third owner.

Thank you for all your comments.
I've thinned the herd over the last year and this is one of my keepers, and shooters.
I no longer own any safe queens.

What's the difference in the one that faces to the right in its case, with no cleaning accessories? Commemorative edition?

The presentation case with the revolver pointing to the right with the accessories contained in a compartment below the barrel was introduced in 1979 and used until 1985.

I too only have one .44 magnum it's a bit newer then yours, I've never fired it and I'm not sure it ever has been.
Honestly I'm not a fan of big bore magnums I prefer something that is more comfortable to shoot like a .44 Spl, .45 ACP or .45 colt.
But I think every S&W collector should have at least one .44 Mag because they started the whole magnum thing.

This 44 Magnum was shipped as a product sample to Olympic Wholesale, Los Angeles, CA on April 2, 1956. It is one of the first seventy-five 44 Magnums made by S&W. Click on the photo for a better look.

Careful that 6 1/2" Model 29 and 6 1/2" Model 27 don't breed and make a 6 1/2" Model 57.
