Picked Up My First Model 27 Today!
Made a very good deal with a forum member for this beauty. A few years ago I shot my first 6 inch S&W revolver (28-2) and after years of only liking the 4 inchers, I finally figured out what a 6 inch barrel can do to a target, lol. Anyway, my new to me 27-2, serial number S330xxx, shipped in 1969 to Bern's Wholesale Sporting Goods Company, Denver Colorado. I'm sorry for the cell phone picure, but I just don't have the skill that some of you do who take beautiful photographs. You take photographs, I just take pictures, lol. I will shoot it tomorrow!

Are the Coke grips original to the gun?
My February, 1959 with a 6.5 inch barrel has original Coke grips.

I don't think so. The letter I have is one the previous owner got from Mr. Jinks at the SWCA convention and it only tells "Shipped Date" and "Shipped To". Of course they are not numbered and the previous owner told me he added them after picking up the revolver. I guess it could have been shipped with Cokes, just not these Cokes.
By the way these are the first set of Coke stocks I have ever owned too. Today was a pretty good day for me in more ways than one.

Beautiful piece of artillery.Always wanted one...had but one chance to get it(a 5''),hesitated a couple of hours and...gone!

Good find. Here’s his twin in nickel. 27-2 p&r 99.99% condition.
When we see something we want better jump on it. I learned that at gun shows. I ask a seller to look at a gun, as the crowd forms, don’t put it down, buy it quickly. I have no clue as to where the crowd comes from? Even at the local gun shop too.

Man, I love those dark target stocks. What are they made of? Rosewood? of all the color variations of OEM Smith and Wesson stocks, I like the dark ones the best.

I noticed some of the nickel guns come with darker stocks that makes the nickel pop. I have a blued 27-2 also from the same seller. Sweet find. Rosewood is a reddish color they might be dark walnut?

With me, the Model 27s seem to come and go. I buy them, keep them for a while then trade them off. Nice looking revolvers with some great workmanship but not for me.
