Pueblo PD issued?
Picked up a nice 4” 28-2 with S serial number (1969) at local gun show this weekend and gave it a deep cleaning today and observed Pueblo Police Dept electro pencil engraved on both sides of grip frame. This gun has 3 T’s and white outline. Anyone have any information or a similar model 28?

28-2 with Pueblo Police Dept. marking
Per this thread Pueblo, CO PD did issue them and sold some off, pics are dead but I've seen some Pueblo 28s and guessing yours is one.
edit: Pueblo isn't our beautiful mountains, but it's got some super rad places to camp
And more than a few good spots for a burger and beer, but I can say that of most places I guess

I wonder whether our friend LoboGunLeather might know something about these? Ray, I know it likely was before your time, but . . .

That gun is in very good condition. If it was a cop gun, the user must have been a desk jockey.

It sure looks like a holster gun. A very good holster, or not worn much. Although, we had 6 inch model 28s back in the 70s in Safariland swivel holsters. The suede lining helped reduce the blue wear.

Speaking with Ray several years back, he mentioned that the Pueblo P.D. did issue model 28's, which were later sold to the general public. If I remember correctly Ray purchased several.

Give the Pueblo PD a call. Maybe they have some info they could share.

Was hoping maybe someone that worked there back in the day was on the forum and would offer some inside information. If they dumped them in the 70’s... that was still 40 plus years ago!

It is nice that they placed the etching under the grips instead of somewhere that showed.

Nice revolver. I had a Model 28 for a while on the PD, although it was a personally owned revolver.
Odd to see an issue revolver with a target trigger and hammer.
