New to me Md 15-2 Snubbie
Finally, after years of searching and being out bid, I picked up a snubbie Md 15. I've been looking for at least a decade off and on. It will join the other half dozen or so "shooter" Md 15s in my collection. It was born in 1968 according to the 4th edition and the bluing is really nice. Not much wear either. This gun is tight! The tightest of any used gun I've seen or bought. And the grips are numbered to the gun too.
Unfortunately, I found this during the virus price gauging and paid too much, but I figured this might be my last chance. I am getting up there in years and so many shops and sellers are dropping "old" Smith and Wesson revolver.
Sorry about the quality of the photos, I was excited and in a hurry.
Chris

That is a beautiful piece, OP! I made the big mistake of being slow on the draw on one just like yours many years ago and have been kicking myself in the butt this whole time. I saw it at a pawn shop and decided I better do some research on it before buying. I went back the next day and it was gone.

Very nice.
Stocks are correct for that gun. The 2" Model 15 was the only K target gun I know of that shipped with the PC Magna stocks.
I'm glad you got one. I don't think I'd trade or sell mine off. They are rather hard to come by!

Very nice! Wonderful revolvers!
Like you, I was very late to the Model 15 snub. Always wanted one, but for some reason I just never got around to it.
I stumbled across this one at a gun show about a year ago and decided it was high time I got one.
Never could understand why they're all square butts though. Round would have made much more sense for a snubbie.

Nice! I've always enjoyed the "hunt," so to speak, more than the catch but a 2" 15 is something I've been looking for a long time as well, congratulations!
Anyway, as long as you've got the basics covered money should be put to it's secondary proper use--putting a big smile on your face! Enjoy!

Got this off an auction site four years ago, one week before Christmas. I was the only bidder with a bid of $400.
Text said it looked like it had never been fired after it left the mother ship. I agreed when I received it.
Came with magna’s but I swapped out for these pre-war Service stocks.

Great guns, I love my 15-3. Just a hint on photo's. The white background causes your automatic camera to read the white background and average it with the darker revolver. This causes the picture to be overexposed and all the area's of the revolver are blocked up. Use a medium density color as a background, such as medium blue, brown, etc and the auto metering will average it out leaving enough light to open up the shadows in the revolver.

Great snag!! I have a couple 15-3 snubs, one blued and one in nickel. Love them both. You'll want another one!

Thanks for the photo info. No wonder most of the pics I take like this are bad. I always use white background. Now I wont.
And thanks to everyone who posted. I've learned a lot!

Some one once told me that S&W designed this revolver with 2 inch barrel for use by the USAF for their aircrews. They could carry it easily in a shoulder holster. I know that I carried a M15 four inch when I was in the Air Force. OSI carried the model 36. I did see some of the flight crews on cargo planes carrying the 2 in version M15.
Nice find, great little guns.

I carried a Model 15 as my issued weapon for years. It was the Cadillac of service weapons.

I've been looking at them on the usual sites. What's the going rate for one these days? They seem to be all over the board.

A 15-5 I found at a small gun show in north GA- when i bought, the seller said, as he passed the gun to me" "that's a lot of 38 right there" - I couldnt agree more.......
Congrats on your new revolver - they're great models.

I had been looking for a model 15 snub for a while as well. I managed to trade a 37 for this model 15-2 this summer. The finish is certainly broken in, but I still dig it.

pmosley, who made those beautiful grips? I, too, have a 15-2, my favorite K frame carry revolver. Those grips, with just the right amount of bark, take that revolver over the top!

Great snubbies
We were fortunate to inherit a beautiful snub 15-2 from my wife's grandfather. It was his duty revolver while he was Chief of Detectives in Downey, CA back in the 60s and 70s. It's interesting because its s/n dates manufacture to 1962, but according to SCSW 4th Ed. the 2" bbl wasn't introduced until 1964. The frame must have sat at S&W for a couple of years before being shipped. My wife used this revolver to qualify for her CCW. Very nice revolver. Enjoy!

Just got a 15-3
Well I lucked into a nice 15-3 - looks to have been shot very little. The picture for the online auction showed no turn line but that was just lighting. Great shape, locks up tight and all I had to do was remove some bright green model paint on the front site with a plastic pick. That looked awful on such a nice blued gun. Cleaned it and took off the side plate and oiled it up. I shoot with my wife who has lupus and arthritis so put on some Pachmayr grips and she is good to go. Not the prettiest look but functional for both of us to shoot.
I’m shooting it this weekend! Can’t wait!
Confession time - I had a little too much Jameson and bid on this gun late at night and promptly forgot about it. Grand total of $550 with cost of the gun plus fees and FFL transfer - not too bad for a nice blued 15-3 2” that I have been looking for. The other auctions shot up to $750 or higher so didn’t think I’d win and put in the base offer. One of those moments when you’re email says You Won and I didn’t remember bidding! All is well that ends well so I’m happy.

I had what was not exactly a pledge but more like a weak resolution when a very clean 2" M15 showed up at my LGS. No box, large Goodyears. I already had a 2" M15 with Rogers grips, and plenty of spare Rogers and factory grips. I didn't buy it, either. I traded a 4" nickel M15 with box& tools for it. A gun that good needs a backup.

A Model 15 snub is the gun I learned to love S&W revolvers with. It was my Dad's EDC throughout my childhood. I finally acquired a really nice 15-3 snub in it's original box this summer. I love it and am super happy to finally own one of my own!
