Storing in boxes
Not sure if this is the right place, but I was wondering if anyone has experience storing their Smith's in the original boxes. Would save room in the safe. Worried about damage to the finish.

I have about half mine in the boxes, wrapped in the paper that came in the box. No problems so far.

I have a few safe queens waxed
And stored in original boxes.
No problems but I check them often.
Others in soft cases , they are wiped
With clean oily cloth when put
Away and checked often.

Ditto. I've been doing it for decades and have never had a problem (yet).
I do keep them in a hydro-controlled safe and change the desiccant regularly.

I'd need 2 more safes. Boxes take up too much room. I store mine(stacked) in new foot socks. Been working for over 20 years. White=Nickel.......Gray= stainless......Black= blue.

Every single gun I own is stored in the safe, in their original boxes. Nickel plated guns, stainless, blued, parked, you name it. I even have guns that shipped in boxes in plastic bags, still in the bags... in the boxes.
I have never had a rust issue, but my guns are all barricaded and the safes have dampness control devices.

I buy boxes from Protecta-gun, store my pistols in their boxes. They sell wax protective paper too. I store my older boxes apart and take good care of both. The original serial numbered boxes are valuable to collectors.
