I ordered a pair of speed loaders HKS 10-A which listed them fitting model 19's. Big issue when I tried one. It hit the grips big time. enough to lock every thing up. Took a bit of wiggling and a good jerk to get it back out.

Does anyone know of a mfg that makes speed loaders for a 19-3 Combat magnum big stock grips????

A lot of big grips have an area scalloped out to accommodate speed loaders. But the most practical to use is to use speed strips

It is not a problem with the loader, the left stock panel doesn't have enough clearance. A set of stocks with enough room should be easy to find.

Get new stocks that are thinner
or widely scalloped out where
you wish to push the speed
loader.

Back in the day, we used to just
whittle away on those enormous
stocks as being too fat, too
misshaped for double action use.
Don't whittle the stocks you have
since now they are becoming
collector pieces.

The design really was for slow, single
action shooting at a more leisurely
pace or for the biggest pawed shooters.

Just as an example, look at the Model
19 Classic under current production.
Note the stocks now being used.

Then just for variety of ideas, look at
Altamont Grips under S&W, in your
case square butt (the new 19s have
round butts with square butt
adapters).

Thanks everyone. Kind of what I thought. I don't really need speed loaders a couple of speed strips will work just fine. I'm keeping as is but decided I'd just as well stick it in the drawer buy the bed instead of just keeping it hid out in the safe. I just wanted a couple of loaders with extra ammo close with the gun just in case.. It's the bed room gun now. I took the Model 36 I had stuck in there and put it out in my truck with it's speed loaders.

You might want to try a Safariland Comp II speed loader for your M19. It's a tiny bit smaller in diameter than the HKS and the release is a simple push against the cylinder ejector pin, rather than turning a knob. It will fit against the football cutout in target stocks. I have them for my M19, but use the HKS on my N frame guns because Safariland doesn't make the Comp II for them.

Agree 100% regarding speed strips. I trust myself much more in a stressful situation using the strips vs the traditional speedloader. Also easier to carry, low profile.the

^^^ This ^^^ I used both Comp II and III Safariland Speedloaders with the factory original smooth finger groove combats on my full house PPC gun and my Model 66 ND in our PPC league, where fast reloads were good and bobbled rounds hurt your score. These are speedloaders; the HKS units are cartridge holders. The speed strips, with practice, can increase one’s reload rate somewhat, but in the end, they too are mostly cartridge carriers.

This is my personal experience, YMMV.

All I really needed was extra cartridge carriers. It's only use will be bed side drawer and an occasional "test" firing for the fun of it. I just want a little extra if I need to go chasing bad guys out of the house. I've got strategic shot guns & pistols placed if I need more firepower. The MOD 19 is just to get me there. Thanks
