Model 18-2
Good evening. Just picked up a 18-2 today for 600 cash. Serial is K757488. Does anyone have any insight on age?
No box but it’s clean and tight.
So it continues....

Looks to be 1967. You'll love it. I have had a Pre 18 for many years, and it is great fun.

A model 18 with diamond targets for $600 was a good deal. Your going to love that gun. Can't think of anything that will help your revolver shooting more than a bunch of rounds thorough that gun.

Ha. Another Smith and Wesson with no 'right side'. All lefties.
You did good.

Here’s a “righty” ha
I’m glad I didn’t do too bad! I thought they seemed to be more valuable than the amount they were asking.....
Definitely will go nicely with my 617 10-shot

No, you didn't do badly at all. The .22 Combat Masterpiece is a wonderful little revolver, and tons of fun to shoot. Enjoy it.
It doesn't make a hoot of difference, but I doubt those target stocks came with that revolver. They are period correct, but the vast majority of the Model 18 .22 Combat Masterpiece units shipped with Magna stocks. That said, I like them, and I think you should keep them on it, assuming they fit your hand okay.

You did well, that's a very nice 18. I was fortunate to pick up a 1975 18-3 in May of 17 for $550. As usual, I dressed it up with a set of Culina Walnut targets.

I think the average price for any decent model 18 is probably around $800
Yes they command as much or more money than the center fire models
Just looked, there are 24 model 18s on Gun Broker, the lowest reserve is $750 for a slightly speckled one with rubber grips. Not many have bids, but nothing available off less either. I would buy all day long at $600 but I already have my trusty 18-4 and a pre model and a couple 17s

I greatly appreciate the feedback. I love the weight of it and with 22LR will make an excellent shooter. Thanks as always for the information... knowledge is power!

I love the weight and balance of the 18, nice pick up OP, just keep it clean and it will last for generations.
Last year I got a “Jesse James” deal at my local pawn shop. He had this 18-3 (1971), the hammer wouldn’t come back all the way, and my Pal at the counter was convinced something was broken internally and jamming the works. He quoted me $375 OTD and I hurt my arm a little trying to get my wallet out. Sure not pristine by any standard, but not bad cleaned up, the worst is a missing spot of blue just behind the logo and some minor holster wear...but it also had matching grips so all in all a very good day.
Turns out it was just chock full of junk from years of shooting and no cleaning...ever! Cleaned her up and have a great shooter.
Not much better than an old Smith you can shoot all day for a few bucks.
Oh yeah, also equipped with a Target Hammer & Trigger, interesting but not worth $75 bucks to find out if it came that way.
