Default Model 49 Age/Value?

Looking through my gun safe I came across something from my dad‘s estate...

Model 49 with Hogue grips; serial number on the butt is AAV7XXX.

Inside the crane is labeled model 49 and the numbers 75237, then a stamped “17”:

Any idea of the age of this pistol, or approximate value range?

Thanks in advance and stay safe!

Likely 1984 and value would be north of $400

I traded for one today (no dash) S/N 198XXX...SCSW puts the gun somewhere between 1957 and 1962...It is a flat latch if that helps anyone narrow the date down...I valued my trade at $700 (we traded even)......Ben

AAV is listed in the Standard Catalog as being from 1985, but only a letter can tell you for sure when it left the factory. The absence of the barrel pin and the three-alpha serial number immediately put it being from after c. 1982-83.

The other stuff in the yoke cut does not help with dating. 75237 is a parts-tracking number, used during assembly. The other mark is probably A7. That would be a fitter's or inspector's mark. It means nothing now.

The Goodyear grips are of course, an aftermarket addition.

Nice piece. And Dad's gun, to boot. Enjoy it.
