Default Got a Model 13-2 .357 and am curious of it's age

I have been wanting a .357 Revolver for a long time and finally got my hands on a S&W Model 13-2 .357 revolver. Here are some pics of the pistol, it is in wonderful shape. Can someone give me an idea of it's age based on the serial number? Is the serial number the number stamped on the bottom of the grip?

The SCSW 4th edition shows 1981. Nice find! And yes, the serial number is the one on the bottom of the grip frame.

Welcome to the Forum, guile68.

Your Model 13-2 .357 Military & Police revolver is probably from 1981, as mh51 stated. That was the last full year of production for the -2 variant. Also the last year of the pinned barrels. The 13-1 (the introductory model) was first made in 1974. The -2 came out in 1977.

These were fine revolvers. I believe you will be pleased with it.
