Could somebody date my pistol please
Hi I am in Australia & recently purchased a Smith & Wesson Model 14-4 in 38 Special with a 150mm barrel, serial number is 31K3686. Would appreciate if somebody could give me a rough idea when pistol was manufactured.
Thanks
Dusty

Very likely from 1978, but as usual a letter of authenticity would confirm - factory "birthdates" are based on the sales or ship date.

I would be happy to date your pistol, but I won't have her home before midnight. Sorry.

I had to convert it but it looks like 150mm is 5.9 inches, so 6". If you didn't already, the barrel gets measured from where the cylinder meets the barrel. Enjoy!

Congratulations on the 14! You will enjoy shooting it for sure. I have a 14-3 from 1977. Fun to shoot! Bob
