Default New to me 27-2

I recently bought a 27-2 that dates to 1977. I thought I would share it and the receipt I found in the bottom of the presentation case (I erased the previous owner's name on the receipt). Enjoy.

It looks like it might have been re finished . The emblem on the right side of the action looks pretty thin in spots.

Nice. As you already know, S&W 27's are excellent handguns. Enjoy it!

Refinished or not, still a great looking gun, shoot the heck out of it.

Yes mighty fine specimen you have there. How is the action on it? Worth the $25? Welcome. You came bearing gifts😄

The action is superb and worth the additional $25! Any idea what that action work would cost today? I'm a terrible photographer but I attached an attempt at a better picture of the area in question. She is not a beauty queen and I did buy her to shoot. This time next year she will have another 2,000+ rounds down her pipe. I shoot all of my guns. I even deer hunt with my Winchester 1886 (manufactured in 1891). Thank you for the kind replies.

One very nice Model 27! Based on inflation, that $25 action job would be $107 today, but I doubt you will find a professional gunsmith who would do it for that price. S&W currently charges $165 and I think they tend to be among the least expensive when it comes to repairs, tuning, and refinishing.

Very nice addition. It is in a good barrel length too. I prefer the 5, 6, and 6.5 inch barrels in my N frame 27's so I had to get one of each. Enjoy that beauty.

I do love the 27s and believe they are definitely the flagships of the S&W lineup. I've acquired a few over the years, and find them not only beautiful, but practical and accurate.

Here are the ones I own and treasure.

John
