Those 22s are a lot of fun to shoot. I put one in my range bag every trip.
Curious about how the M 46 shoots. I have not ever tried one. I am from 1966 myself

The 46 shoots as good as a M41, just a little cheaper. Originally had plastic stocks and not as high polish blue finish. I put many, many round thru this one sent it to the Performance Shop a few years ago for some repairs and reblue.

Are you getting comparable accuracy as the norm 7 inch bbl?
The short bbl was the most interesting to me.

Doing better than I am, though these two aren't too shabby. Would love a 41 and a long tube 48.

Gotta love the .22's........especially the S&W's.
I have a few:
Top row left to right is a Pre-18 and a 17-4.
Middle row left to right is a 18-3 and a 17-6.
Bottom row left to right is a Pre-17 (1947 with LERK) and Pre-18.

I collected High Standard 22s for many years so I was sorta slow on the uptake with rimfire 22 Smiths. At this point I only have a couple, a well loved 1948 K22 and a HFT of dubious provenance from the early ‘20s. The HFT was fun to play with, but the K22 gets the nod more frequently when I head to the range.

Beautiful collection. I am on the fence about 22's in the current climate. Gun prices are high but 22 cartridges are difficult to find, making 22 LR guns harder to sell. I have seen some good prices and bought a Mark II Ruger target with 5 mags and a red dot sight for $300. An original rear target sight was $45 to set it up the way I wanted.
Sell them if you need cash but it may be that those of us who have some 22 shells are in the minority at this time. That could effect prices.

Very nice collections of two-two's on this thread. I have a 17-3 from mid 70's that I have enjoyed shooting more than any S&W I own .... mainly due to being able to shoot it much more. Simply just a lot of fun. I bought a 18 no dash 4-screw a few months ago and plan to have a lot of fun with it as well. Once again, nice collections!

Well, I got them all to the range. Ran at least a box thru each one, lots of fun. My favorites thru this exercise, the M18's, and the M46 that I have had over 50 years. I used the 46 in many gallery matches and any number of 2700's; it shoots as good today as the day I bought it.
Shoot em if you got em!

A man can never have too many 22’s.
At least that’s what I keep telling myself.

Like others here, I am also a fan of well made .22 pistols. While I can’t compete with the OP on S&Ws, I have managed to pick up few nice guns over the years.
Here’s a quick pic of my collection consisting of: S&W Model 17-2, S&W Model 41, Browning Gold Line Medalist, High Standard Supermatic Trophy, Ruger Mark II Target, Colt Woodsman 2nd Series and a CZ Kadet. All great shooters although the Medalist doesn’t get out much. Fortunately, .22 ammo is still easy to find in my area.

I've posted this picture before, but I like S&W .22s, so here it is again.
Top is a combat masterpiece and an 18-2. Next down 18-3, then two K-22 masterpieces. Last two M-48 and a 63. Not pictured is another combat masterpiece and a 2" model 34.

Great collection!
You know, you've got me thinking. There's a big hole in my S&W revolver collection as far as .22s are concerned.
Maybe I need to fix that, LOL!

Beautiful .22s!!! Thanks for sharing.
Here are a few of my well-worn shooting K-22s spanning close to 50 years of K-22 production:
K-22 Outdoorsman from 1937:
A 1951 K-22 Masterpiece (cut to 4" with a King reflector ramp red post front sight):
And an early 1980's 8 3/8" barreled 17-4:
They are all a ton of fun to shoot and bring a smile to my face.

Do my eyes deceive me or does that cut K22 have the LERK? If so, the gun must be from 1947 not 1951. Big Larry

Larry:
It came to me with the large extractor rod knob, which I believe was added after the gun left the factory, as the barrel did not have the knob shaped cut out to receive the LERK. When I received it, the knob rubbed on the barrel and made the timing a bit of a challenge. So off it went to Nelson Ford (S&W Gunsmith/Magician) who cut the groove in the barrel and fixed the timing. It is a fun shooter, especially with the King front sights (which I also believe were added after it left the factory). The SN is K105948 and Roy gave me the ship date.
