Default M19-3 is in the Queue!

Sent the 19-3 back to Smith last week. I just received an email stating they had received it. The gentleman to whom I spoke on the phone said I'm looking at 6 months for a wait time.
I am having the endshake and timing corrected. I also mentioned the small gap between the front sight and barrel. That will probably be of little concern. I will post updates, guys.

Hopefully it won't ACTUALLY be that long.
My guess would be that when it returns it gonna be a fine firearm.
Keep us posted.

Due to COVID-19 and the distancing requirements, S&W may have had to cut employee hours, which means longer wait times.

Unfortunately, that's probably true.

6 months, Not 6 weeks?
The 6 weeks wait time I thought was due to this co-vid. 6 months I certainly hope you won’t have to wait.

I was told 4-6 weeks for my 500 3.5”. This was for a barrel adjustment I was told it needed from the pictures I sent prior to sending.

Yes,
They said about 3 mos. for the quote and then 3 mos. for completion! When did you send yours in?

I sent 2 guns in at the end of January. One for a refinish & master action package. The other just for the master action package. I got 1 back in Sept. the other came back early Nov.

About 2 years ago I sent in a 19-3 for a cylinder/barrel gap adjustment. It was a pristine gun that came from the factory with a .018 gap. Previous owner bought it new and hardly ever used it. 3+ months & $150 later, it came back at .008. I had requested .003 to .005.

Compare that to Ruger. Had an old malfunctioning MK II that was well used. Sent it back and 15 days later it shows up. Fixed & rebuilt and no $$$. Now that's customer service!

I will have to agree that Ruger's CS is hard to beat. Several times for me they have went above and beyond.

I just received an email from Fedex informing me that my revolver is on its way back. I did not hear from Smith. I was supposed to get a quote first. Could it be they were unable to do the work, for some reason?

Question

I'm not sure what's going on. Called S&W and the girl had no details. Has anyone else had the gun returned without hearing from Smith first? It's scheduled to be delivered on Monday.

It means either:

They fixed it and decided not to charge you

Or:

The decided they wouldn’t work on it and sent it back untouched.

I think the second option is more likely, especially with an older out-of-production gun like a 19-3. “Parts not available.”

Yeah, I'm thinking that too. The rep said there'll be a note in the box, so I guess I'll know soon enough.

Doesn't sound like you need much in the way of new parts. They would stretch and trim the yoke and refit a new hand and maybe a ratchet. I wonder if they are running short of skilled armorers in this day of precision casting and CNC machining. BTW..****ger does have outstanding customer service.
