It would have to be a pre-model 12, sometime prior to 1957ish.

Why would you say that?

Wow, not even a turn line. That's the kind of gun I'm always hopeful of finding in my SGS's, but it seldom happens. Congratulations on a great find. Be careful with the stocks as they are unique to the model 12 and are very difficult to find. And avoid +P ammo too.

"pretty good condition" is the understatement of the week. Why can't I find sellers who are that unenthusiastic about their wares?

Giving us a picture of the assembly number on the yoke is not especially helpful. Those number are stamped on frames, yokes and side plates after those parts are fitted to each other. Assembly numbers are mainly for keeping those parts together until serial numbers are assigned. They are not recorded nor is there any effort to prevent reusing them on future revolvers.

My edition of our bible is a bit dated. I'm still relying on the 3rd ed of the SCSW but it should suffice for your question. The 12-2 upgrade was made during the year the 12-1 was introduced making the The production life of the 12-1 less than one year.

Nice 12-1.

Nicely played. Absolute classic.
K frame stocks mostly fit, just look a little gappy at the top.

Time to find some old school wadcutters or even better some Nyclads.
