Please help identify which type of revolver grip this is
I have a S&W revolver grip and would like to know what frame model it goes to. I couldnt find any specific indicators online like a model number or size.
Is anyone able to tell by looking at it what type of gun it goes to?
Is it for a J frame? It is rather small, it measures 3 3/4''. Also I think it is a square butt but am not positive.
Thank you in advance for your help!

I believe it is a K frame grip. Hard to tell without something for scale.

It has to be for a K frame from the mid 1960's or earlier it is too long for a J frame. K frame grips will measure approximately 4 inches from the horn to the butt.
Edit I measure grips down the spine, but measuring straight down the face I get 3-3/4 inches so yes it is a K frame grip.

Note the roundness at the edges of sq. butt J-frame stocks. That's a good clue to those and they're smaller than K's as well as shaped differently.
It's possible to confuse K and N frame grips.

As others have said, that is the left panel from a pair of K frame stocks. They date from the period 1953-1967 (roughly). Moreover, they would have come on a K frame revolver with target sights.

OP asked what revolver this may have been on originally.
Without his permission I'll risk the wrath of murphydog and quote him from his post in this thread: Magna Grip Questions
"I think the standard and PC types were scattered all around the K frame line, short or long barrel, fixed or target sight."
I think he means, and I could be way off, that they could have come off about any square butt K frame of the period.
IIRC the diamond around the grip screw went away in 1968.

Show me a pic of the back and I can tell you if they're K or N.

The PC Magna type (I believe the factory called them "Modified Magna"). The bottom edges were rounded. Here's a picture:
As for ExRanger714's quotation from my friend murphydog, here's how I would respond:
There are always exceptions to every practice of the S&W company. But, from the early 1950s until at least the 1980s, it was standard practice to ship target sight units with regular Magna stocks (unless, of course, they went out with targets) and the fixed sight guns with PC Magna stocks. The sole exception was on the Model 15, beginning with the -2 variant, when the gun was configured with the 2" barrel. I have owned dozens of S&W K frame revolvers with both fixed and target sights, and I've handled hundreds of others. I have yet to see a target sight unit that shipped with PC Magna stocks, other than the 2" Model 15. They certainly may exist, but they would be an unusual exception. I doubt it happened often.

Jack-
PC means Plainclothes stocks, with curved edges, to abrade coat linings less?
Elmer Keith mentioned them occasionally in his writing. From the early 1950's, they were usual on service revolvers like the M&P/Model 10.

Yes, beginning right around 1953 or so. As I mentioned above, they were standard equipment on the fixed sight K frames. The target sight guns continued to have the standard Magna stocks except, as mentioned, on the Model 15 when it had a 2" barrel.
