I know local gun dealer/pawnbroker that revealed to me he had a second account said if he felt his gun wasn't going high enough he would throw a bid on it. I marked him off my list of dealers immediately. I should have reported him.

Might be like the Hunt bros trying to corner the market on silver in 1980.

I really like my model 19 snub but I'm not nearly as stupid as I look.

Question

Maybe an auction is the place to be?
Might do better when I thin out my surplus rifles.

I think this is very common. Watch some of the auctions. There are several bids from “buyers” with no ratings or feedback. Once again, I throw the BS flag.

Theres a used Gen1 Walther P99 with two bidders that have the weapon at $1300+ With 3 days left on GB. That pistol usually goes for around $500-600 and lately $750ish. Heck, I just bought a unique P99 with a RARE 357Sig barrel for $715 on GB. This one is very strange.

Maybe seven years ago, when the snubbie craze had started to go crazy, I saw a 2-1/2" Model 66-4 on GB with no reserve and an opening bid of $416. The gun looked absolutely like new in its photos. I even downloaded them so I could enlargen them but it still looked great. I placed the initial $416 bid just to get things started for the seller and waited for the rest of the world to jump in and run it up to a grand or more. As primarily a target shooter, I don't even care all that much for snubbies but if I was going to buy one "right," I figured this might be an opportunity and was determined not to bid any higher.

Ten days later, I completely unexpectedly received the "You won..." email from GB. Why no one else bid is a mystery to me. The seller described the gun as being in "average condition" and that may have deterred some people but it shouldn't have prevented any higher bids. So you never know...

But in the social climate we now live, I'm glad I have it. My usual carry gun is an S&W E-Series 1911 but when I want to not have to worry about a "gun print" though my clothing, I carry the 66-4 in a Lobo Gun Leather Advanced Pancake holster and six extra rounds on my belt in a matching Lobo carrier. The Combat stocks, by the way, are Thailand knock-offs in maple purchased for $91.00 shipped from discovery_at_me on eBay.

Guess I need to put my 66 snubbie up for sale. With the original grips I should expect around $3700.

I'll go for hoax auction or money laundering for $100 Alex.

I have a feeling some people are using places like GB and fleabay to launder money. How? Post a $300 dollar item and sell it for 10 times it actual value, sell a hundred a year. It's a nice way to sell your ex-husbands guns you got in the divorce and have your sister buy them with the money you stole from his savings account.

THere is just something completely off that makes me suspect dishonesty.

The second place bidder bought two other snub 66s over the last month. Paid a little over $1000 for one and $2025 for one with box and tools...if he had won this one he would have almost $6 grand in three model 66s...go figure....i thought " drug dealer" as well....

If you want to see bidding that makes you wonder, go to the CMP forums.$9000.00 for a 1903a4 that was a 3500.00 rifle at best. Some of the prices just make me shake my head and I have collected Garands and 1911`s for 40 years and thought I had seen it all.

There is currently a 1987 SS NIB Ruger Speed Six with a starting bid of ---$2100.00! I wonder If I should list our Consecutive SN#'s 1987 SS NIB speed Six, I mean the two of them consecutive SN#'s would make the pair 5K. 6K?? Maybe I should sell my set of four Sigs 1 of 2500, matching , consecutive SN#'s ( 556XXX1, 556xxx2, 522xxx1, 522xxx2 ), NIB in hard case with all accessories???? Maybe I could buy that Lamborghini I wanted??????? Be Safe,
