Default model 10-1

First a little history, when I was about 13-14, I began to yearn for my very own pistol. After a couple false starts, a Spanish Basque .32 auto, the a Colt police positive in 38 colt, even then had trouble finding ammo. I became friends with my aunt's neighbor, who was a amateur gunsmith and had his own bluing tanks set up in his back yard. He was a Smith and Wesson man and while I really wanted Model 10, thought the looks of the pistol were off the chart, he encouraged me to buy an adjustable sight pistol. So I found a used Model 19 six inch, which sadly left me years ago. Anyway, I grew up and in my mind became more sophisticated and never looked back. About a year ago, ran across a box stock M10-1, for a great price and it spoke to me, I guess my lost youth spoke! So I bought that little Model 10, and the crazy little revolver thinks it is a target gun! It may be the most accurate pistol I own, with its fixed sights and skinny little barrel. Life is good and it taught me not to be a snob to these fine little pistols. (don't yell at me for calling it a pistol, when I grew up all handguns were pistols. Some were revolver and some were automatics) Stay safe.

There were pistoleros before the semi automatic was invented.

The word you’re looking for is pistolas.

I think you missed his point. A pistolero is one who wields a handgun.

The US Army put out a manual titled something like "Pistols and Revolvers" in which they draw the distinction between the two. Many people follow that.

Others note that Samuel Colt called his invention a "revolving pistol" and that "pistol" has been used generically for any handgun before and since the introduction of semi-autos. it is humorous to see references in the press like "the officer drew his Glock service revolver". So apparently the press thinks "revolver" is any handgun as well.

Personally I look at it like the debates over "clip" and "magazine". Just use the terms you think are correct and don't argue with those who disagree.

It is interesting though, that Sturm Ruger has always made the distinction between its company's pistols (semi-auto) and its revolvers.

Many of us prefer to use the terms as distinctive, but we should not be dogmatic about it. One thing for certain: they are all handguns.

Exactly, a gunman. Go back and read the OP, he’s referring to guns. The other poster refers to gunmen (in Spanish), but is mistaken, as he intended to address the point made about guns.

I have a six bedroom home with a Model 10 in every one.

Great little protection firearms.

Here is a photo of one of them.

Model Tens, even with their service sights, are typically supremely accurate. You just have to point them where you want to shoot and that is where they shoot. A little practice might be required.
