Default 27-2 Pics Added

I just acquired a 27-2 4” nickel made in 1980. Any idea how many were made?

Came with box, papers and un-opened cleaning kit & SAT.

Not a lot were made with the 4" barrel. It was only a standard length for the last couple of years of production of the 27-2. That barrel length was a special order item previously. Despite the low numbers produced there doesn't seem to be premium for that configuration in that era, (yet)! except for people acquiring example in each barrel length offered. A great gun!

Probably not many. The four inch came along sometime in 1979 and the -3 arrived in 1982, according to the Standard Catalog. I bought the only 4 inch blue I've seen in the wild for sale and don't remember ever seeing one in nickel. Pictures please.

Since the -2 series only offered the 4" barrel for three years ('79-'81), there's less of them than the other barrel lengths, most likely; so even less nickel 4" than blue 4". Depends on order numbers, really. There's usually a slight premium for nickel finish over a blued one of similar configuration, and the dash 2 has a 25-50% premium over a dash-3 or newer gun. ANIB value around $1200, as of 2016, when the last edition (4th) of the Standard Catalog was printed.

Let's see some pictures of that beauty.

Every 4" 27-2 I've seen has been nickel. Moderator Ditrina had a blue one way back but it was a refinish so who knows how it was originally. Come to think of it, I should have paid the $600 he was asking. Another error. Joe

And then there are the red ramp 27-2's nickels , and the non-red ramp ones. ..

This one is a non red ramp, 27-2 nickel 4". P&R.

I'd like to know why same came with or without, and how many.

My very un-scientific observation agrees with pharmer that there are more nickle 27-2 4"ers than there are blued ones. With that said, I ran this blued one down about 12 years ago...

I wouldn't call them rare but likely the least common barrel length.

My only Nickel gun now, the blue four inch is much more difficult to find based on my observations over the years.
