NIB 15-3
Scored this beauty today. Absolutely unfired, I think. No signs of anything at all under the sideplate or the forcing cone.

Looks like the 15-2 I bought last February. Box, Docs, and tools. But it was sluggish so I had to pop the side plate. Congealed goop in there. Probably oil squirted in there and left to sit. Cleaned up very nicely, though. I still haven’t shot it. Don’t know if I will. It’s so perfect it will never look this good again. I have other revolvers I can bang around with. Maybe later on I’ll break down and shoot it.

15-3
1977 manufacture. Tapped the side plate off; no dirt, nothing but a little bit of old oil. Cleaned it; oiled it. Action is now super smooth. Same with the yoke. No sign of firing. Oiled it; nice and smooth now. Quite happy.

Ya really can't pass that one up. I bought a pre-owned 15-3 off a Forum member this past year. It's still shiny, but not as shiny as yours! It's a shooter, and very accurate. For .38 Special, you really can't beat the Model 10s & 15s, for the money.

I'm not one for a straight. 38 model... I like the option of both, but that being said, I think this is one beautiful gun I would make an exception for this, beautiful!

Stunning! The blueing is truly exceptional.
I’d like to have an example that I would feel comfortable opening up and learning the internals with. I have a pristine .38 RP that I’m certain (at 102 years old!) needs fresh lubrication.
Is there a thread on this procedure I haven’t yet found?

Very beautiful example!!! The M15 is one of S&W's best efforts. Personally I have 4, and that is not enough.
It appears that yours has a Target Hammer and Trigger, but no target stocks.
Do you have the label from the end of the box that you could post a picture of?

Yes, I will post a pic of the box with label. The service stocks do number to the gun.

Great find! Its amazing the number of older guns out there that are either unfired since factory or still first owner guns

Nice score! Have 4 different M15s’ and one is on the dresser by the bed now....a former LAPD revolver in high condition, d.a.o.
Congratulations on a new mint boxed model!
