Date And Value of Model 15
i own a model 15 no dash with 4" pinned barrel. In about 90% condition. The serial number is K3722XX. The grips are serial numbered to gun. I know of the model 15's history with the USAF and law enforcement including LAPD.
It has some wear on the high spots and freckling on and around the side plate and very light turn line. I purchased it as a truck gun. I have since found a 3" 13 and 3" 64. The niche it filled has been taken over by the later purchases. How early is it and what is the worth?

I'm guessing early 1960. Value is whatever someone will pay.

In more normal times, you’d do well to get $500.
Nowadays, the sky’s the limit. Add 20% or more.

Around here, normally a 90% mdel fifteen will not bring more than four bills tops.
Crazy times like now it is hard to say. Especially if you can sweeten the deal with some ammo. .38 special ammo is about as scarce as hens teeth right now.

$ 500 is a little higher than I was thinking. OGCA is this weekend so I might try my luck there. I have plenty of 38. I will take a box with me. They do sell ammo there but I am not sure about bringing ammo in.
Still curious about the date. Maybe 59 or 60?

Likely 1959, it is in the range for that year. K327346, a Model 17, shipped in June, 1958, but they didn't go out the door in serial order.
