Sweet! They aren’t the most modern, “tactical” things, but it’s hard to beat a classic J frame regardless of vintage.

Welcome aboard from ol' Wyo.

Nice looking Chiefs Special.

If the serial number stamped inside the right diamond grip matches the serial number on the butt I'd guess S&W shipped your Chiefs in 1965 or '66 (too late for the starburst box to be correct -- those were used in the mid-'50s).

Agreed! The thumbpiece is of the style reintroduced in about mid-year 1966. So this item is at least that late. Hence, the standard BP blue box would have been used, not the "starburst" type.
