There should be a C prefix in that serial number ~ C625xxx. That would put it in late 1962 or early 1963, probably the latter.

Absolutely!
The C prefix is easy to miss, since it was stamped a good distance from the numeric portion of the serial number. I snapped a photo of 1950’s M&P to illustrate.
It’s also kind of a strange concept to those unfamiliar with S&W that a letter is part of a number!

No 'C' prefix... just 625027 on butt and cylinder face, has 26042 on the frame strap. Also I thought it was a Mod 10, but there is no model number on the gun.

Please post pics of all numbers on the gun. If there is no letter prefix, is is probably a Hand Ejector M&P made around 1940/1941.

Please post pictures of both sides and the number on the flat on the bottom of the barrel. It looks like you may have a very desirable pre-WWII snubby.

That serial number is from the 1930s, perhaps early in the decade, but because of the Great Depression shipments were very slow during those years.
You have a .38 Military & Police from before WWII.

That number has very little utility at this point and is not a serial number.
Incidentally, the "frame strap" is called the yoke.

Model numbers were not assigned until 1957, and not used until 1958. This revolver is about 20+ years too old to be a Model 10.
Out of curiosity, what made you think it was a Model 10 -2?

I looked back at your other posts and no one seemed to say "welcome", so this fixes that. 
This appears to be a fairly rare 2" barrel .38 M & P from the 1930 decade; no more than a few hundred were made. Check if the numbers stamped on the flat part of the barrel near the extractor rod and inside of the right stock panels match the SN. If so it has all-original parts from production.
I also noticed you posted several SNs in the "manufacture date" thread; try posting them in the Revolvers 1980 - present subforum along with the model information and you should get more information.

My guess would be the general configuration of a model 10 with a 2" barrel.

Well, yes. Sort of.
Here are the differences:
Long action
No sliding block safety
Five screws, rather than four
Front sight
And some cosmetic changes:
Patent dates (maybe, but probably not on a 2")
One line address
Type of blue finish process (I think)
Stocks
Best to think of it as an ancestor to the Model 10.

I moved it because you claimed to have a model 10-2. That’s rather specific information and would belong in the 1961 to 1980 section, if correct.
Your limited photos show otherwise, so I moved this back to the S&W Hand Ejectors: 1896 to 1961 section.
A photo of the barrel flat (above the ejector rod) and a complete profile photo of the gun would help with an accurate assessment.
