It has an oak leaf and acorn motif on the frame, scroll on the barrel and cylinder, "miles" of inlaid gold wire, topped off with a set of Keith Brown custom ivory magnas (for all you 27 lovers who always say that target grips are too bulky for a 3.5" barreled .357 ). In this case, the photos do not do it justice at all...

Thanks for letting me share,

Does Quigley ever sleep? That looks like a couple thousand hours of work, fair curves and perfectly straight lines everywhere, without a bobble that I can see. I can't imagine doing that quality of work on a flat plate, never mind in the round!
Doing that cutting in wood, clay or copper, OK, but in steel?!!
I've watched engravers work doing money plates for national mints, but it still boggles my mind that someone can do that with steel.
Enjoy another treasure for your collection! Gotta go wipe up the drool now.

Great looking 357 Magnum in the Oak leaf and acorn pattern. I especially like the KB checkered Ivory Magnas. Everything comes together nicely on that one. 👍

Have you considered putting together a book of your collection? Maybe a calendar? You have aggregated the most aesthetic revolvers I've seen. You seem to be handy with a camera as well. I really wasn't a fan of engraved guns until I saw your 4" 19. I appreciate your posts to say the least.

I could only dream of getting a stimulus check big enough to cover the cost of that engraving job.
That's about the most beautiful engraved gun I've ever seen, Mr. Quigley is a true master of the art.

Congratulations on your latest piece of artwork. Phil’s work is amazing. He understated his work, when he said it is beautiful.
I have always felt the N frames were the best medium for engravers. His engraving skills and inlays are world class. Absolutely beautiful.

Outstanding engraved 27 Richard! I really like oak leaf engraved guns and I am starting to appreciate how this pattern really fits shorter barreled guns. The contrast of the gold inlays, the engraving pattern, the blue finish and the ivory grips really make this a stunning piece. Congrats!

You have to wonder about how a brain, a pair of eyes, and a couple of hands can get wired up to turn out work like that. Then the real puzzle is how that combination very likely makes the process look so easy.

Since you and Karl both commented on the grips - I have to disclose that they’re crafted from a wonderful synthetic ivory (“Resin-Ivory+S“) that mirrors the color, the grain and the density of the real thing - it is amazing stuff and even the most discriminating ivory lovers have had to examine it real carefully to see that it’s not the “real thing”. Keith introduced me to the material a couple of years ago and I had to have a set. He brought them to the Dallas Symposium and made my day. Phil has had the grips for the better part of a year and knowing my pension for playing musical grips on some of my guns, he said “those ivories need to stay on that gun.” I could not agree more. Here’s a photo of them from the rear, along with some more cool engraving by Phil.

Once again, “LIKE” doesn’t express my admiration! We need a “LOVE” or perhaps “ADORE.” That combination of classic engraving and gorgeous ivory (even “substitute ivory”) reminds me of what would have been available 60 years ago at the height of international, old school craftsmanship. I would expect work like that in a European museum, not coming out today. I’m simply blown away!

Hi Richard,
Your synthetic Ivory grips had me fooled. They sure look realistic with the grain and all. Modern “Tuskoid” grips I suppose? ☺️

Beautiful work.
The combination of the OakLeaf and his scroll style comes together perfectly.
Combining different styles of scroll or cutting pattern on the same piece is not an easy thing to do and have it balance nicely.
Beautiful metal prep/polish to bring the engraving and blue finish to perfection. Nice crisp, even width gold line work. No saw tooth edges. Nice sharp corners.
Love those grips!

It’s most unfortunate that the superlatives to describe your Gun have yet to be invented. Also those stocks would shame most any gun and that gun would shame most any stocks but together............well I reference my first sentence.

You're kidding, right? Every time you show some of your beautiful engraved S&Ws (and those Colt SAAs) I feel like I should pay you a fee.
Thank you for sharing with us.

I really don't care for engraved guns, but that is beyond stunning. Truly a piece of art!

Awesome gun as usual, Richard. I think Phil is kept pretty busy just doing your work! He really does fantastic work. The grips do look like real Ivory. Where do you purchase them? Thanks for sharing with us.
