Default S&W 53-2

Until recently I did not know anything about this revolver and especially this caliber. Back in March a thread was started by a member asking if he should buy one (which he did). I commented that I should be safe, never having seen one in Switzerland.

How wrong I was, again. While I roamed the grounds at the LGS, I spotted this 53-2, 1973 made. But I went home and refrained … for three days. Then I reserved it.

I brought it home yesterday, cost me $550. Oh and it came with two boxes of Remington ammo.

You WILL be locked up and the key thrown away for STEALING!
Excellent purchase with out a doubt.
If you plan to shoot it try and find the PPU ammo. The Remington is like finding gold. Shoot a few - the short barrel will literally be a BLAST.
PS - wear ear protection.

Like the thread above. Wear eye protection and EAR protection. Those things are sharp loud and will deafen You. Enjoy, they are a fun gun and You won't find many who know what it is, not even in the US.

Bare minimum 1k gun.
Be sure to keep chambers clean and dry.
These guns will sometimes lock the cylinder because of the shell cases jamming against the recoil shield. Don't load all chambers 1st time.

I'd say that package is a $1200-$1500 item these days. I paid $1000 for a six inch 53 no dash (no box/no inserts) about two years ago. The ammo, as you probably know, is $50-$100 a box IF you can find it. Great find, enjoy.

Great buy. Don't see the 4" near as often as the 6".

I remember when these first came out and were featured in the American Rifleman magazine. I wanted one soooo bad. Never happened. You are very lucky! Beautiful gun!

Switzerland has excellent gun prices, in addition to fine chocolates and watches.

Here you would have to shell out at least $1000 US and at that you could still call it a good bargain. More like 3X your price with box and factory ammo. There are 100 rounds of factory Remington 22Jets on Gun Broker right now for "just" $200"

your deal would not have been there in 3 hours in most American gun shops and less than 3 seconds if I saw it and i already have one.

Default 4" barrel

Here is the US the 4" mod 53 is very hard to find! You received the box, inserts, and 2 boxes of ammo, were you wearing a mask(not for Covid)! ? ! I have sold boxes for $150, inserts for $50, and ammo for $75/box. That means you bought the gun for $200. I will not mention how much I paid for my 4" gun, it was MUCH more than you paid!

It is loud, louder than the Ruger in .30 Carbine, but hardly any recoil.

Great fun though
