Default Help needed to date build date of two guns

The first gun is an N frame S&W hand ejector revolver model: 27-2 357 Magnum caliber, Six inch barrel with adjustable sights. Serial # is: N434xxx. I’d like to know the born on date.

I also would like to know the manufacture date of an N frame Smith hand ejector Model 1955 stamped on the barrel; serial number: N758xxx. It has a 6” barrel with with adjustable sights and it is 45 ACP or AutoRim also. Inside the yoke the serial # is stamped and model 25-2 is stamped underneath the serial number.

Thank you all for your input

The 27-2 would be 1977-1978. The 25-2 would be 1980. This according to SCSW.

There is usually a difference between the production date (what you find in published tables) and the birth (sales or ship) date, which is how S & W determines a gun's age. A letter of authenticity gives you the exact age but the above dates 'should' be fairly close.

However, in some instances guns were shipped years and decades after production. Since it's a new gun until it leaves the factory, its birthday when it leaves there makes sense.

My recollection is somewhat cloudy ( it has been 40+ years) but the dates brick gave me would line up with my lifestyle during those years. Those dates coincide with me becoming very active in competitive pistol shooting.
