Question Model 14-3 with Leopold 2x scope

I have guns in my safe that haven't been used in some time.
Back in the late 60's and early 70's I was a deputy sheriff in Cook County.
This Smith and Wesson Model 14-3 revolver with an 8 3/8 barrel and Leopold 2x power scope on Buehler mounts is a gun that I got at a gun show in Chicago in the early 70's. Unfortunately I didn't get any history on the firearm. The last time I fired it, in the 90'w it was very accurate.
I'm looking for information and possibly history on it.

Please excuse the photos. I'm not very adept at doing them.

The 14-3s were built between 1967 and 1977. Great target handguns and yours is probably very accurate. Some may find the scope to be an appealing addition, likely most will not. Where I shop adding a scope (drilling and tapping) to an older S&W does not add value to the gun and often subtracts it. If you provide the SN someone here can get you closer on a likely ship date. I have SN 2K37197 which I show shipping in 1971. I'd guess the value of your gun with scope to be in the $500-$650 range.

I have 3 scoped contender barrels, scoped XP100s in both 221 Fireball and 6mm Remington. Had one on my 8/38 500 Mag, went back to adjustable sight. Scoped hand guns are fine on rests or bi-pods. Hand held, for me anyway, they suck.
