I'm looking at a model 60 no dash with a serial # R 8099 any info would be great! thanks new guy

According to SCSW, it would be 1969. Welcome to the forum.

If those are all the numbers in the SN, it's a 1969. SN range for that year is R001-R30000.

I was looking for whatever info I can find on a S&w model 15-4 that I recently acquired. Never been fired Original box is MIA
Serial number starts with a26k Any info would be appreciated thanks

Give the full serial number and replace the last 2 or 3 numbers with an X
just 26K is not enough or is it A26K? Plus total number of digits helps
26K1 was years before 26K98273

Welcome! 26K serial numbers were produced '78-79, (thanks to the SCSW
4th edition).
