Smith Model 60 No Dash
Hello All,
I am going to try and explain this the best I can. I got another model 60. Okay, So when I fire it, It fires great. In the same spot every time, There a light very binding on one of the cylinders. In double action and single. So the spot that it is binding, I pull the hammer back again on that same spot there is a little catch before the hammer will lock in to fire.
Thanks

You feel a burr? If so, could you remove that with some emery cloth?

Of course, a gunsmith should be able to fix that pretty quickly.

Have you checked the cylinder/forcing cone gap to see if it closes on that difficult cylinder? Maybe that's where it is binding. Proper gap should be around 0.04"

Take it to a gunsmith. Save yourself some money. Start messing with the internals on that little Smith and you'll be up a couple hundreds in a heartbeat. Take it to someone who knows how to fix your shooter.

Work the action with the cylinder swung out - hold back the thumblatch so the hammer will come back. If the "hitch" goes away it's probably an interaction between the hand and the ratchet.
The ratchets aren't 100% identical. One might be cut a tad wider than the other and that causes the hammer to bind in the slot. Or one may have a slightly off cut on an angle.
Smiths lock up laterally, so to speak. If the "hitch" is just as the hammer comes to full cock and the ratchet is a bit proud left & right - I bet you don't get any cylinder wiggle. Not a bad thing, will probably diminish with use.
