There is a possibility to pick up nice used ones one Ebay. Just got a N set last week. I have picked up Herretts at gun shows. I have K's, K round butts, & N square. This is my favorite set so far. They got moved to my 25-15. Bob

Herrett grips are some of my favorite replacement grips. I have small hands and their target grips are a bit smaller than original S&W grips.
K frame on a 66-2
N frame on a 29-3

My pistol shooting mentor turned me on to Herrett’s “Trainer” stocks for target autos. He had them on his Model 41 to have the same feel as his 1911, and when I decided to leave slant grip High Standards (on which I had also used the fancy Herretts with adjustable palm shelf, etc) and shoot a 45-like “Military Grip” gun, I was delighted to find a set of the same stocks for that gun as well. It’s amazing how well they duplicate the 1911 feel.

They are definitely NOT out of business. Robin called me last evening and told me that they were about to start on the Ropers I ordered for my 4" 25-5. She took my credit card info and said they would be working on them next week. She did say they were having phone/internet problems so she had to call me on her cell phone but they are in business.

Bananaman: Your third pic and the middle gun in pic 4 are Ahrends grips. I have both Ahrends and Herretts. Both are great grips.

Herrett's Troopers. These are made and checkered in their custom shop. My all-time favorite Herrett's stocks. I've probably had 6 or 7 sets of Troopers on different Colts and S&Ws.

Once again I’m struck by how much Herrett’s Troopers remind me of the no-thumb rest stocks Sanderson used to make... maybe not quite the same cachet, but pretty cool anyway, and very useful.

That's grest news! Someone must have bought the company. I posted about this back in July or August, and at that time they were saying they were going to remain open only as long as it took to find a buyer for the property, but the company would close.
That spurred me to pony up for a wood upgrade, since I thought it would be the only set I would ever own.

Many years ago had a set of Herrett's Shooting Stars on a M29-2 4" that I owned. Nice grips, I liked them better than the Gon Calves that came on the gun.

Sorry for not answering sooner, I just saw your post. Herrett refers to them as " Production S&W "K" Sq. Walnut" and "Production S&W "N" Sq. Walnut."
While their website does not list them they also have produced round to square grips that look like these. I don't know if they put the S&W medallions in or if aftermarket as I have always bought mine from someone other than Herrett.
I have added to my collection of Herretts since the thread started.
I have them on two other Model 29's but no photos yet.

I found a pair of N frame Herrett's Shooting Star grips in an antique shop for seven bucks. They originally looked like the ones on the Colt Diamondback until I removed the checkering and oiled and sanded them. I'm left handed and removed the little thumb rest on the left but retained the trigger finger rest which is now a subtle thumb rest. They feel great when shooting my 24-3. They look a lot like those on your .357.

These Old N-Frame Jordan Troopers fit my hand like they were made for me. They were the best grips I ever used on an N-Frame. They went down the road to another user after I sold my last N-frame; a great 4" model 25-5

One of my favorite sets of stocks from Herrett is the “Trainer” type like you have on the HS Victor in your first picture. They make the Military Grip models feel even more like a GI 45.
I was lucky enough to find a like new set at a gun show for a pittance because the seller didn’t know what they were, but they weren’t original! I also got a set of the full target grips for my slant grip “Space Gun” with 8” barrel… gets it close to an Unlimited Gun feel. They were discontinued years ago and I got the last pair they had found sitting on a dusty shelf.

I got acquainted with Herrett’s grips reading Skeeter Skelton articles. The “Roper” style he had on his various 5” Model 27s inspired me to buy a set of Culina N frame cocobolas in that style.

They do make great stocks...have had them on several of my guns since the 1970s.
About 10 years ago I bought a mint 1964 Model 57 4"...stripped of its Cokes....and got the gun for several hundred dollars less than if they had been on there. Since I had a extra set to make the gun "whole" it was a win-win for me...
The grips that were on the gun turned out to be a very old set of Herrett Detective model. They fit my hand better than any N-frame grip ever before. They were transferred to my favorite 57 shooter which is a 1980 vintage 4" that I've had since 1983.
Had always wanted to have those stocks duplicated and got the chance while visiting with Mackay Sagebrush in Twin Falls this last May. Makay is long time friends with Rod Herrett, called him and was told where the factory had moved to...which is just down the street from where it had been since Steve Herrett opened it 70+ years ago.
We went to the factory and one of the stock makers...Dee, who has only been with the company 43 years...helped me pick out walnut blanks for the new stocks... I left the originals for them to copy and they said to expect them in August...and August came and so did the grips...
The ones that had been on the 1964 57 were rosewood and lacquer finished which they don't do any more. The new ones are walnut and oil finished... Rosewood is a lot more expensive.
Picture on the left is the original grips taken near Mackay, Idaho in 2013...the new stocks are on (top to bottom):
Original 57 (Square-Butt)
1964 58 (Square-Butt)
1970s 27-2 to .41 Magnum Conversion (Square-Butt)
1990s vintage 657-3 (Round Butt)
1999 vintage 657-4 Mountain Gun (Round -Butt)
Been so busy haven't ever gotten a chance to shoot them yet...

deadin...I have that same box. Picked the set of grips used in about 1980 so the box has to date from at least the 1970s... If a set of Diamond S&W grips were in the box it may have been 1960s...

Do you have the current mailing address? Do they have an updated website up and running? I have always regarded Herrett grips as the best available shy of individually handmade custom stocks from the likes of Roper, Sanderson, or Culina.
Sorry I miss-attributed those Trainer stocks, but my comment still is valid! BTW, does anyone remember what they called those full on target stocks with the adjustable heel rest?

Not to dispute Superman but I believe those are Stooting Masters, not Shooting stars. The difference is in the enclosed backstrap with a curve similar to the Jordans

For my son's 14th birthday I bought him a Ruger 10/22; a Remington 1100 and a S&W model 63. About a week after that we put a set of Herrett Shooting Stars on the 63 and they are still on it after 40 years. He has not found any grips he likes better yet. I also have several other Herretts in my stash and like them very much.

Shooting Masters rings a bell. I'm pretty sure I bought them over the counter at an LGS at the time. They are outstanding for shooting well.
