Probably made in late 1973, and in the current seller's market likely worth about $600.

I saw a gun like this and was listed as Rare R prefix. Does any one know the meaning of this

Whoever listed it as "rare" is, frankly, lying. Nothing rare about it, other than the general scarcity of all guns these days.

If you call around 300000 guns made over about 13 years rare it may be advertising hype.

Who knew that my 1972 vintage "R" serial number Model 60 was rare. Guess that I will have to list it on GB with a starting price of $3,000.
