Default Model 53 info.

Does any one here know the twist rate of a Model 53 .22 Jet??Mine is from 1961 if it makes a difference. Owned it since 75 and never knew. Bout time I found out. Thanks in advance.

I don't know BUT, I doubt very much if they ever changed it after the 53 was 1st released.

I tried some resized (.2225) and 224 diameter 52 gn Sierra Matchkings in mine and they would not stabilize.

That bullet isnt that long, so a 10-14 twist should have been fine.

I patched my barrel to try and figure out the twist and I could not get a 100% positive answer on mine. Rifle barrels are much easier.

But who knows.

I will keep playing.

I have one from 1961 and I don't know the twist rate. I do know that it loves Sierra .223 45 and 40 grain bullets (available - sometimes - from Midway).

A search revealed an earlier post by Mr. Jinks stated the M53 twist was 15".
