Default Model 29 0.44 Magnum (1978-Vintage

Help! This cherry and very lightly used gun is a part-time training aid. I've noticed that the ejector rod unscrews a bit and presses on the frame toward the muzzle end. This causes it to jam, such that I can't get the cylinder to pop out for loading. I took it to a gunsmith for this once, but he didn't show me what he did to fix it. I toyed with the notion of applying some LockTite, but I don't want to make it tough to remove for cleaning. What is the most effective way to cure this problem, besides paying closer attention. This gun hasn't been fired for years. So, other than this issue, it's pristine.

Much obliged for any advice.

Get the S&W extractor tool on Brownell’s, which allows you to tighten the extractor correctly without Locktite or marring the surface. I bought for the same issue with my m629.

And don’t forget to put some empty brass in the cylinder before tightening or loosening the ejector rod.
