Default Mod 34 .22/32 Kit gun

I have a model 34 that is not a 4 screw. Has serial number 6xxx. So I guess it is a 34-1? Out of town so cannot look at the model number stamped on the yoke?

With a four digit serial number, it can't be a 34-1 unless there is an M prefix in front of it.

It also can't even be a Model 34, since those were well into five digit numbers by the time model numbers were applied.

Unless you have the serial number identified incorrectly, it most likely is a .22/32 Kit Gun Model of 1953.

Default .22/32 kit gun

Number is 6211 with no prefix. Maybe I remember the model number wrong. Is .22lr caliber with I think 3.5 or 4" barrel and adjustable sights. Square butt. Not a 4 screw gun. Maybe the gun I described is not Model 34? Is model 34 a 22lr?

It is not a Model 34 if it is not stamped so.

Yes. The Model 34 is a .22/32 Kit Gun (meaning .22 LR caliber built on the .32 frame - I frame originally). But, until sometime in 1958, the designation was not any sort of model number. From 1953 until 1958, it was just the .22/32 Kit Gun Model of 1953. Same gun, just no model number. With a four digit serial number, it would have to be one of those, and not a Model 34. The barrel would measure 4". The 2" units came along about the same time as model numbers - 1957-58. I own an early 2" example that shipped in January, 1958. It has no model number and the serial number has 5 digits.

A 3 1/2" or 4" barrel makes a big difference.

With a 3 1/2" barrel it's a Model of 1955 J frame .22/32 Kit Gun Airweight with black anodized alloy frame and cylinder.

Or even a Model 51 22 magnum.
But that would be 5 or 6 digit S/N and model marked.

Yeah the serial # eliminated the Mod 51 right off the bat.
