Default Model 29 -2

Why is this model so desired? I have one bought in 76 with a pinned barrel. On the frame it has 29-2

It's a very versatile handgun. With the right loads it is great for target shooting, self defense, and even hunting.

Besides the Dirty Harry mystique you can down load the .44 magnum with loads that won’t hurt you that magnum rounds will.
BTW I love DirtyHarry.....

Much more pleasant with 44 Specials or handloads that duplicate 44 Special or just a bit more, but well below 44 Magnum velocities.

In my opinion the 29-2 is the best balance between collectability, availability and price. Older models might be more desirable but they are not as common and that makes them command a price most cannot afford.

My 29-2 is from 1978 and has a much nicer finish than all my later ones

Just look at the terrific polished nickel finish on those revolvers.
No lock to mar the traditional aesthetics.
( the blue finish ... I wouldn’t pass on either)

Indeed it is a very special wheelgun built for the mighty .44.

If I may inquire of you fine folks here, rather than starting an entirely new thread...

Never mind.
I started a new thread:

29-2 Pricing Thoughts?
