Default Another Model 10 story

I saw, at a local store today, a M10-5 with three inch heavy barrel. It is a 1968 model, sn D68xx. I was wondering if there is a premium for three inch heavy barrel. If so, what might the value be at very good condition?

Can't help with value but I do know that 3" barrels are very popular no matter the Model.

Very good condition with original grips can go for 700 or more.

I'm with TG on the value, I haven't seen a 3" 10 around here in I couldn't tell you when. I'd like to have one, if you can buy it reasonable it would be a good one to have.

I walked in to the local gun & pawn yesterday on a whim. There were three Model 10-5 3" square butts in the case (and precious few other handguns of any kind). $495 each. I picked the cleanest of the three, filled out the paperwork, paid for it, and was informed that the ATF phone line was so backed up that I'd have to wait a day or two to pick it up.
Ah well, at least I snagged one. They all looked clean but carry-worn, and one had that odd plum-color on the barrel and cylinder. All were tight and locked up solidly on each chamber with the trigger held back.
Australian returns? French police?

I would have bought all three, or put them on layaway!

In very good condition in todays market it's value IMO is at least $800. The other K frame 3" Model 13 are a $1,000 if you can find one. And yes there is a $200 premium for 3", 2.5" and 2" snubs.

I think this one must be a police return of days gone by, judging from the slight wear on muzzle and cylinder. Prices have sure gone up on these. Thanks for all the replies, gives me an idea of value.
