In case you don’t know, remove the grips and there is a pin in the grip frame. It is used to pin the safety down to deactivate it.

Very nice piece. I really like the J-frames a lot. Just recently got a Centennial myself.
I am guessing that one has an alpha prefix on the serial number....?

I didn't know that. Thanks for the insight!

I wish that concept would have caught on in the 1911 world.

Congratulations. Is it a Model 40, or a 42 ?

I have a 40 that is hard chromed and I have Eagle grips on it. I don't have a photo of mine.

Good luck with it. They are great guns.

And another--Factory Re-Nickel Model 17-3 with Keith Brown's glorious Ropers...This gun looks like it came from the Factory like this, an absolutely perfect finish!

Need a picture from the right side showing how many screws your model 40 has.
Btw those "high horn" presentation magnas with deep SS escutcheons will likely have the small metal inserts inside so they only fit the early models.

Engine 49guy--

It is a three-screw gun. The small metal locator circles are found on all M40s with grip safeties, I believe. Probably a clearance issue.
