Default Grip Material on Model 27

I brought home a model 27-2 from the LGS today. It has smooth white magna stocks. I've seen these before on other 3 1/2" blue model 27s. I never really had a burning desire to know what the stocks were made of, until now. Are they fake (plastic) ivory?
Can anyone enlighten me?

George

Probably bonded ivory. Made from ivory dust.

Removing the grips solved the mystery for me. They're Ajax ivory polymer grips. They're still available for J frames but have apparently been discontinued for N frames.

The gun cost me a small fortune, but I'd dreamed about having one and yet had never seen one that I could hold in my hands and buy. At my age, I don't know how much longer I would want to wait.

I'm also pretty sure they are bonded Ivory. Ivory type (and probably some other artificial material), molded together. This is a pair on a J Frame. I think Ajax, as well as a few others make them.
