Default New to me model 17

I recently got this model 17-2 with all target options. The grips are not original to the gun and need to be fitted, but they are very nice. The gun is in excellent condition, very happy and got it for $750 on GB, a steal compared to what other people are wanting. Serial number is K6071XX. Can someone share the date?

Nice, probably 1965. The stocks look like they might be N frame from later than 1968.

I can't tell from those pictures for sure but those may be N frame stocks.
Nice looking M17.

Thanks for the info on the grips. They stick out more the further you get up the grip. I'll try getting some altamont targets.

I thought I could see them sticking out at the top rear and that is a sure sign they are for a N frame. The M17 is a K frame. You probably knew that.

Nice one. Would love to have another K22 with a target hammer and trigger.

Nice! Just got a K22 Masterpiece from a forum member, outshoots any .22 in my stable, including my 617. 72 years old - they made better than great guns back then.

Congratulations on the 17-2! As stated, they are accurate! You may wish to use K target stocks on it. You will get the proper fit & feel. There are other options out there depending on what you like.
I have a 17-2 a little earlier than yours. K5622xx from 1964. Mine came with rubber grips. Those quickly left. If you wish original stocks, these would be an option. Enjoy your 17! Bob

Good deal. You'll have a great time with a K-22.

Went to Ebay and solved the grip situation. Also, made a stupid mistake and put a ding near the barrel pin hole on the right side. Please don't make fun of me, I'm literally so upset about it I almost sent the whole gun to get refinished.

Aside from that, I took it out yesterday and put lots of round through it. Inmense fun, super accurate, a joy to plink with.
