Looking for info on Model 571
I have had this pistol for a number of years and since it just sits in the safe I am looking to possibly sell this to help fund a night vision purchase. I know that the grips are aftermarket and I got it as is with no box or anything else. It is a 571 4" nickel plated with a pinned barrel. It also has the wide target hammer and target trigger. Does anyone have an idea of its age and possibly it's value?

The revolver is a Model 57 1 (41 Magnum) and was probably shipped in late 1981. Although stamped 57 1 in the yoke cut, the revolver appears to have a barrel pin and a cylinder with counterbored charge holes. Therefore it is really a late Model 57. The picture quality could be better and may lead to a different conclusion.

Here are some more pictures, it is definetly a 41 magnum but the cylinder is not recessed even though the barrel is pinned? I tried to get a more detailed pic of the serial but that is the best that I could do. The model number is 57 and that last number is a squishy 1? Any better ideas on year or worth??

Welcome to the Forum, lots of good info here. As Doc44 says, it probably was manufactured when S&W was switching from pinned and recessed to non P&R around 1981/82. Guns from that period are occasionally seen pinned but not recessed or recessed but not pinned. S&W used the parts they had until they were gone rather than changing over to say a -1 57 on a specific date. Often see this with 629s from that time. Lack of original stocks are an issue but not a huge one. Almost any N frame in good condition is worth around $1k and more these days. I'm going to PM you about your NV acquisition as I'm also looking for one. Nice gun, good luck with it.
