I’ll add another
Just checked the mail and my latest set of Ken’s stags just arrived. Here are some before and after pictures of my refinished M1917. It came with those bonded ivory grips and I’ve been looking for a set of original wood grips since I picked it up last year. The contrast of the light grips on the blued frame grew on me, so when these popped up, I got them. I think they look great and really are comfortable and filling in the hand. Thanks Ken!

My latest pair from Ken. Actually this is one of two pair. I mistakenly grabbed a second pair of RB, N frame grips! But I think I have a suitable revolver for the extra set. (Somehow thought I bought a SB set!)

Pat Grasshorn made a set of no-bark for my Registered Magnum (a 99% gun with mismatched grips ....go figure) a decade or so ago........ I've picked up a few more since then..... K and N frames.
Nothing nicer that a Model 18 with stag..... for a walk in Penn's Woods.
"Big" makes some nice looking grips...... but you have to get there first and fast when he posts....... as they don't last long once posted. With Pat G you order and wait.... but not too long!

Ken hit another home run with this latest set of Moose antler stocks!
I had originally intended to swap them onto my M27 and put the Elks on the M29, but as soon as I held them, I knew they needed to go on my M29.

A shooting friend of mine has Elk Eagle Grips on his model 28, 19 and 63. I have seen these and they are absolutely beautiful. They fit perfectly, have lots of contrast and range from $250 to $325 depending on size. Can anyone comment on a comparison to the grips discussed here on both fit and price?

Never had the chance to examine the Eagles. I have 5 pairs of bigmtnman's grips. The fit is perfect, the quality of the work is top notch. The price is less than the Eagles. Search for posts by bigmtnman and you can see the prices he charges and photos of the grips. I haven't examined any of Pat Grashorn's work except from photos on this site, but I have to say they look the equal of Ken's offerings. Also, judging by the number of people on this site, who have beautiful guns and can afford to put whatever grips they want on those guns and have multiple pairs of Ken's or Pat's work, I have no reservations recommending either.

"I would have given you an A, but you have too many comma splices" .... B+
This was written by my Miss Hardy on my important 12th grade English essay. "Run on sentences" had knocked me out of getting an A !
Ever since then she has whispered in my ear when I write anything. "That is a run on sentence Ken". "That comma should be a period" ! "Now go back and fix it". Yes ma'm..Thank you ..... since 1964.
OOPS... I was reading another thread and accidentally put a reply to IT here.
SENIOR MOMENT !
Well....as long as I am here and BUSTED ...... Thanks to all of you for the nice comments on my grip making efforts. It's very nice to be appreciated.

Ken, I will add here that I would find it most interesting to read a new thread detailing how you make your grips...Beginning with how you select and source the materials, and how you decide which would fit and look best on which make and frame size of gun would be very instructive...I'd like to see your first efforts if pictures still exist, as well as detailed pics and text of the entire process...Such a thread may already exist, and if so, a link to it would be appreciated...
As you well know I unashamedly haunt the For Sale forums trying to snag what I can of your creations, whether of not I have a gun to fit them... ...Ben

Found a nice knife at the local gun show today, with elk stag scales to match my M27...
Now they just need some matching custom leather...

Ken, as wonderful as your grips are, they're not as wonderful as their maker. Even if you didn't make them, you'd still be appreciated.

There are a few custom makers on this forum. And more outside of the membership.

Sweet! I just scored my latest set of Ken’s stocks. I got them mainly for my newly acquired 586-3 so I can retire the combats that came on it to a safe place. I’ll post pics when I get them.

I recently got my first set of Kens grips. I had in mind a 4 inch M57 but thats a long story. The short story is I have another 4 inch M57 coming so the grips will be matched to the gun I had in mind all along.

I have in my mind 4 pairs....J, (2) K and N frame, in the near future I should be getting in touch with Ken, his work is beyond beautiful.
I think that the Mexican Target should look awesome wearing the magnificent Work that Ken is capable of.

I'd like two pair of K frame grips. One for the M19 and the other for a K22.

I got my Bigmtnman stags in the mail today. Here they are on my new-to-me 586-3. This is my forth set and certainly not my last. Ken’s workmanship and craft is impressive. Since I mentioned the four, here is the family portrait(so far)
Top to bottom:
1. M1917
2. M657ND
3. M586-3
4. Engraved Baby Chiefs

A little while back, I added a set of Ken's Elk stocks to a 19-3 snubbie, but was having difficulty getting a pic that I liked. Finally did today...
And yesterday I received my fourth set from Ken, for my 1934 38/44 Heavy Duty...
I think I now have a set on each of the S&Ws that I wanted them for... at least until I get another revolver that needs a set!

Through the forum. But, unless he has changed his policy, he doesn't make stocks to order. For him this is a recreational sideline. He makes what he wants, when he wants and then places them up for sale here on the forum and on one or two other limited venues. It is a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Get in the habit of religiously checking the classified ads every day - maybe several times a day if you are really hot for something.
If Ken has changed his policy, I apologize. He is a member of this forum, so I imagine he'll correct me if I have misstated something.
Ken is great to deal with and his products, as you can see from this thread, are well worth the wait.
Good luck.
Adios,
Pizza Bob

This. Gotta be a little patient, especially for something a little less common (like my 38/44), but it's worth the wait.
Also, Ken is fantastic to deal with. We need a big "thumbs up" smiley...

Yep...last pair lasted an hour and just sold a few minutes ago. Many go within a few minutes of posting.

One of my pairs of Ken's grips I bought 3 minutes after he posted them. I was checking like every 10-15 minutes. I don't think the three minutes is a record either.

I remember nailing a pair in 4 minutes recently...But I missed another pair today because of a stinkin' dentist appointment...And the dentist got more than Ken gets for most of his grips!... ...Ben

I just got set #5 in the mail today. They are for my 4” M57 no dash. Here’s a group photo of my growing family of Ken’s stags.

I managed to beat the rush and scored a pair of Ken's elk stags for a round butt K frame the other day...My boxed 19-6 had been pleading with me to dress it up to play with the older P&R kids...Ken referred to these grips as plain jane...I'll leave it to you to provide your own description...
And the 19-6 now holds its muzzle high on the playground... ...Ben

Mailbox surprise
Got home this afternoon and found my latest pair of Ken’s stags in the mailbox. Tracking said Friday, so I am very pleasantly surprised. Thanks USPS and thank you, Ken, they are beautiful! I put them on my 625-3 to see how they look. I’ve got a couple others to try them on to see which I like best.

My elk herd keeps on growing. Here are three sets by Ken on the revolvers, a set for my SR1911 that arrived today, and my custom shop Buck 110.

Just received my latest set in the mail today, a K/L RB set with medallions. Here they are on a recent 686 snubby acquisition.
Thanks Ken!

Well, he did it again! This brings me to 6 pairs of Ken's grips. This time, I didn't even own a gun they would fit on when I said I'd take them. Of course I had planned on going out the next day to buy a gun these would fit nicely on. As it turned out, I bought 2. I bought a 28-2, that these will eventually go on, and a 29-10 brand new Classic series. I'm still waiting on the BGC to come through on the 28 but here they are on the 29. I am very happy! I can't wait to get them on the HP. I wonder what the guys at the gun store would think if I showed up said, "I know I can't take possession of it, but can I swap the grips on it?"

I remember seeing that pair before you dropped the hammer on them...I remember thinking I really need to buy those, but I already have two pair of Ken's creations waiting for the right gun to drop in my lap...I remember regretting not speaking up before you, but I know they went to a good home anyway...
Next time maybe I won't hesitate... ...Ben

He had an absolutely gorgeous set just before these that I passed on. Still kicking myself for letting those get away. When these came up I was primed and ready. I saw that one of his sets went in thirteen minutes today. Ya gotta be quick. No mercy. Sweep the leg.

I only have two pair but love his work. Mine fit a M57 and a M29 both 4 inch guns. I'll find a set for a K frame one of these days.

I just purchased a set. Saw them and really liked the look so I bought them.
Afterwards I realized I only had 2 square butt blued N-frames, both 6”. Tried them on both and picked the one I liked best.
I won’t say because some people will think I should of picked the other. 😂
They sure look great……but maybe a slightly worn HD or a M28 5-screw 4”. This could be an expensive.
