I had the opportunity to inspect a Model 27 in blue, longer barrel model ( unsure but at least over 5") a 5 digit serial number, no dash, front sight was a partridge type and rear was adjustable w/white outline.
It came from an older gentleman's estate and appears to have been used for target shooting, very little wear at the points where holster carry would have been seen. It had the original grips in the box but was stocked with some that almost looked like maple and were custom made.
I realize not much to go on, but any ideas what the "ballpark" value of this beautiful SW might be ? Thanks.

Based on your description I’d say $1,000 to $1,300 depending on more details. Someone may correct me and say a no dash is worth more. Can you post photos? Even cell phone photos would help, especially to determine whether the grips had additional value.

I'm trying to get another "viewing" and get more details. It's just so nice that it may have to reside in my safe and meet the family. Thanks

I'm confused about a 5 digit serial number. If an S prefix that would have ended approx. 1954 before Model marking. If an N prefix it would be approx. 1970 and be a -2. Possibly a mix up with an assembly number if no letter prefix ?

If it is a no dash M27, it would be a "S" prefix.

Original stocks plus the box (does it have tools and paperwork). Is it a 4-screw or 3-screw gun? (4th screw would be in front of the trigger guard). If it's a 4 screw gun, value would be at least $2K with box and papers.

Get a better look, send some pictures and the full SN (including letter). Whatever it is, buy it if you get the chance.

Did your "inspection" eventually lead to a "purchase"? Enquiring minds want to know... if so, please post some photos.:)

No dash 27

Does it look as good as this one. This is a no dash model 27 made in 1958. 6 1/2" barrel. Any no dash model 27 would have an "S" prefix and a six digit serial number. Did you get the serial number off of the butt. Early 50's "N" frames have five digit serial numbers and no model number. Five digit "N" prefix guns ran from 1970 to about 1973. You may be looking at a production number on the yoke and/or frame.
