Smith Gods are shining down on me again.
So, I had to go out today, so before we go let's check what stores have what in stock. See that 2 stores have a Ruger Precision Rimfie, one of the guns on my list. Go to Sportsmans and long story short, rude, lazy clerk, no gun. Go to the other store. They have it. It's $30 more. But what do I see in the used case? 1967 manufactured 4" HB 10-6. Good shooter grade that doesn't look to be shot alot. A couple of rough spots in the finish, but smallish. Nice, non-original set of PC magnas. Locks up like a vault and passed the checks so they both came home with me. The Smith was $350. I think I got my $30 back.

Those PCs look good on that gun. A couple of nice ones there.

Nice Smith for $350!
Usually I try and avoid Portland…..but you seem to come up with some nice ones up there….maybe I should find a reason to prowl around. 😎😁

Actually, most of my scores are at 2 shops in Milwaukie and Cabela's in Tualatin. You can avoid actually going into Portland!

I was just operated on at OHSU last month. I wouldn't dream of trying to find any gunstore in that city. Heck, the hospital area itself was a nightmare in navigation. Got operated on and couldn't head south quick enough.

Yeah, that area by the hospital was laid out by epileptic monkeys on crack. The rest of the City is pretty easy to navigate. NSEW grid. The river makes a good dividing line and then there's, well, Division St.

Never had a heavy barrel 10 before. This one's really starting to grow on me. Put some factory targets I had on hand on it. Nice piece. Gonna have to open it up and clean out the inside though as it keeps weeping oil around the sideplate seam. I have a feeling this one's gonna see some use. Too handy not to shoot.

A big PLUS ONE on the 10-6 heavy barrel. Back in the halcyon days of PPC shooting, the fastest (and most economical) way to be a serious competitor was to add a Bomar rib (they called it a “Cover Up Rib”) and do a quick action job. Those guns were amazing because the factory gun they came from was so very well made. Great find.

Why do you think the Modified Magnas are non original? S&W was phasing out the diamond magnas right around 1967. The fit looks good to me, judging by your pics.
