Model 64-1 6"
I recently acquired a Model 64-1. Serial #1D6XXX. It has a 6-inch barrel and the barrel is stamped 357 Magnum. The barrel is pinned, the cylinder is recessed. There are 2 screws on the side plate and 1 screw to the spring. And it is stainless. There are different numbers on the yoke they are 164XX. I have read a little about the Oklahoma State Police getting the 64-1, in the early seventy's, can anyone help me with additional information? I am confused by the different numbers on the yoke and inside handle?

Welcome! The model 64-1 fits with the D prefix serial number, but the barrel and cylinder sound to be replacements, likely from a model 66. Does it have a fixed or adjustable rear sight?
The OHP model 64s in .357 were fixed sight 4" guns. The 164xx is a factory internal code used to keep parts together during assembly and have no meaning outside there.

Unless inspection gives you good reason to believe the barrel has been changed, it may not have been. The Model 64-1 was initially ordered by the OHP as a .357 Magnum version (4" barrel), but all of the .357 Magnum units did not go to that agency. However, that configuration soon became the Model 65, so by 1976 (your serial number) it is a bit surprising that one exists, regardless of barrel length. But with S&W just about anything is possible. Yours might be worth a letter.
It should be noted that the Model 64-1 chambered for the .38 Special continued in production until 1977. During the 1972-76 period, the Models 64 and 64-1 were made concurrently. The former had a tapered barrel, while the latter had the heavy barrel. They were replaced by the -2 and -3.

Until the L frames came out in 1980, all S&Ws chambered for the .357 Magnum had counter-bored cylinders
Your revolver has three screws in the sideplate. One is hiding under the stocks. The mainspring tension screw does not count as a frame screw.
All S&W revolvers with model numbers beginning with 6 have stainless steel frames.

Does the barrel have a tall ramp front sight and base? Photos would help here if possible.

I'm a bit skeptical. Photos will tell the story.
By the way, OP, the numbers on the yoke and really, any numbers other than the "MOD. 64" and the serial number on the butt are pretty meaningless, so don't get hung up on any differences. They're just fitter's and inspector's marks.

Does it have a shrouded ejector rod? If so I'd guess at least barrel swap with a M66.

Do you have the photos on your computer? If so, look at the top bar at the top of the "reply" space. See the smiley face? There is a "paper clip" on its right. Click that and you'll get a popup titled "Manage Attachments." Top line says "upload file from your computer." After it uploads, hit the "upload" button. That's it. Then, finish any typing and submit.

Sounds like Alan's guess was correct. The Model 64 did not have a shrouded extractor rod. The barrel on yours probably came from a Model 66. Most likely, so did the cylinder. See Post #2.
