Default Old Model 29

I was able to see this 1961 model 29 today when it came in to my LGS. The rosewood grips are "coke" shaped and the ivories have a filler piece on the bottom to match the length of the wood grips. The box is finish worn but I am still tickled to get the package, including the carved El Paso Saddlery holster.

Even more interesting is the presentation case insert is sized for the less common 5" barrel, instead of a 4" bbl.

The package is very nice and the smooth stocks are some of my favorites. However, just so you know, the presentation case dates to 1975-1979 and was originally made for a Model 27-2 with a 5-inch barrel. The original case for your Model 29 would have been made of mahogany with clamshell inserts.

Thank you for the info on the case Sir! Now I know what to look for and once I find one I can let this one go to a new home.

That very nice. Quite the package, for sure. Like the floral Threepersons holster and ivory stocks. You said you were there when it came in, did you get to meet the owner? Would of been interesting to get the story behind the revolver.

I purchased the gun from an older gentleman out of Virginia. He had it for sale along with a set of hippo ivory grips for a Ruger that I was able to buy. Unfortunately Oregon uses the State Police for their back ground check system and even though I hold CCW permits form Oregon and Utah, taught firearms safety for the state and serve as a certified range master, I was assigned number 3100+ in the queue and it will be weeks before I can pick the gun up. Oregon has a system that stinks!

And before anyone asks why I live here, I am just waiting for my wife to retire form her dream job so I can get the heck out of this liberal cesspool state!

Congratulations on acquiring a very neat assembly of revolver, stocks, holster and case. Some of us always looked the other way when the four-inch 29's were so readily available.

The elements of your new revolver and package are very fine and we appreciate your sharing those photos. You can now be on the lookout for a 357 5 inch! What a great opportunity.

Nice revolver. Actually, I was told just yesterday, that Oregon is supposed to be putting the concealed carry applicants to the top of the line. I was at our LGS in Bly, Or. and watched a purcheser wait all of ten minutes for his to go thru the check system. Was told this was set up by the Trump administration, but is just now getting approved by our governor.
