Default 6 inch N Frame Revolver Calibers

I have set goal of collecting blued N frame revolvers (nominally 6 inch barrel length) in every caliber available.

So far I have them in 38 Special, 357 Mag, 41 Mag, 44 Special, and 45 Colt.

I think I am only missing 45 ACP, and 44 Mag. Have I missed any?
I know there are some calibers that come in multiple models, but right now I am just interested in getting one of each caliber.

The old wartime HEs were N frames in .455.

455 Eley is a must have for the N frame collection.

I believe the S&W Model 929 revolver in 9mm is an N-frame.

S&W also made a Performance Center model in .38 Super — was that also an N-frame? Someone will know and will post here quickly I’ll bet!

Correct on each.

Maybe it would be wise for him to go "no lock" for starters.

He gets a pass on those 2 as he is collecting blued guns.

I missed the blue finish. Ignore the 610.

Did the 44-40 come in a 6 barrel?

You must be looking for either 6 or 6.5” barreled revolvers?

The models 24-3, 25, 27, 29 and 57 were 6” guns, among others. The .38/44 (Heavy Duty or Outdoorsman), and the fixed or Target sight pre-model .44s and .45s, were 6.5” but not 6”. I think the .455s were 6.5” too?

Of course they came in shorter lengths too (like the 5.5” 1917 Army).

The M544 in .44-40 was a 5". The M24-3 was a 6 1/2".

Agreed, for starters, at least, OP should narrow the era of gun he's looking for. As he succeeds in finding each caliber available with a 6" barrel, he can broaden the search to pre-war and post lock guns.

If you're looking for post-war, pre-lock N frame guns, I believe the .45 Auto and .44 Magnum are all you need.

When I started collecting, or accumulating (more accurate in my case) S&W's, I decided on finding P&R magnums, one of each model in the postwar to 1982 era (when the pinned barrels and recessed cylinders disappeared). Wasn't concerned with what barrel length, but preferred as early a model as I could find and afford (emphasis on afford). Still searching for a M13, and a M65, which aren't that difficult, but my HG is a M520. Then if dollars and years (mine) haven't run out on me, maybe multiples of models in different barrel lengths.

It would be expensive but .44-40 triple lock New Century or first model N frames were made with 6 1/2" barrels. Did any of the rare triple lock .38-40s have 6 1/2" barrels?

I believe the 30 Carbine was experimental and was a 5" barrel.
