I have a weakness for fixed sight revolvers. I went into a one of my favorite local gun shops and low and behold there it was kinda rough but tight. $782 out the door. Definitely not the smartest move during the current ammo crisis, went to my reloading shop and bought the dies, powder, bullets and some once fired brass. Woohoo!20211017_091547.jpg

20211017_091528.jpg I am thinking 1973 as serial number is N1877xx

I like it. You just need a holster and stout belt.

I like the fact its not totally NIB. You have a gun that you will not be afraid to carry and shoot. I have an ANIB nickel and have never loaded it.

Also, you should turn yourself in to the nearest law enforcement agency for larceny. You stole that gun, at least from the prices of the very few I have ever seen.

Oh come, come now!...We can't abandon a brother member in his hour of need...He should immediately send that ticket-to-prison to me and avoid the stress of having to support his family on wages from the license plate factory...

No, no need to thank me now, but when the heat is off, and you're able to turn those components into shootable ammo, just forward them to me and it will help keep the poor frightened orphan properly fed......Ben

Very nice...you will enjoy that one... As to the price...I think it was very fair, the main reason being the grips are not original to the gun...

A 58 thread....

The 'unofficial' 58 Club

Everything .41 thread...

.41 Magnum / 41 Special Load Data Center

Starline has .41 Special in stock as of Friday when I last looked...

Didn’t you read that the 41 mag is obsolete? Sell it to me.? Lol

I fired only six rounds of federal 210 gr JHP from my new s&w m58 and the love affair began.over a decade plus ago my dealer had a sale on all n frames for $699 nib. I grabbed what I could, my first ones were in nickel a m57 & m58. I think nickel is a plus like land there not making anymore. The m58 was the only n frame I ever shot then the cancer hit.

Yes as I was talking the owner of the shop he informed me that it came in with pachs glued on, I was pleasantly surprised when I got it home and there was no rust under the grips. I am ok with the wrong grips because in a few months it will be wearing Culina' s combats

Mine gets shot a LOT, and it wears Hogue Monogrip - a working gun needs a working handle!

Arrow Model 58 - A Great Buy!

Can't say I blame you! I bought my 2nd one, a '66 blue version, a few months ago and it's become one of my favorites to shoot and just proud to own! (Front & center, nickel N prefix, & 657-4 LH!)

Cheers to you, on a great move!

If you don't have a 58 you need one. Some just don't realize it.

Glad you have joined the 'enlightened'.

That should be great...

Was out in Idaho this last summer and ordered some Herrett's Detective stocks for one of my 58s...came in a few months ago...makes shooting DA much more controllable...

Great find at a steal of a price!

Once you get some rounds cobbled up, be sure to send the range report!

The stocks on the gun look better than anything made of rubber, but the proper wood stocks should be PC Magnas; the bottom edge is rounded over. The Magnas actually feel pretty good when shooting full loads; better than I thought they would.

These are numbered to my M58:

That’s Gorgeous. I haven’t even seen a 58. have a 657, and love it. I have made out like a bandit over the last year with people selling off older but well cared for 41 mag ammo, not to mention some sell offs when Gander mountain sadly folded.
What a great round. I camo up and wash my clothes (and myself) in scent free washer soap, and hunt deer close up hidden in cedar trees. very effective round for this.

Great price, and a cool and interesting gun.

I added a 58 to my collection a few years ago, for no reason other than it seemed like an oddball model that shoots a fairly unknown cartridge, which immediately caught my interest!

Mine is in the 58 club thread, it's stamped SAPD.

Congrats!

I only have one 58 and it's all I need . It gets regular use . Primers ? I haven't seen any for sale for over a year and half . With ammo becoming more plentiful it would seem primers would be coming more available . I was in a small family owner gun store this past weekend and he had a pretty good selection of powder , but no primers . regards Paul

I am very fortunate that I still have primers of all sizes, but I am be conservative with the primers. I bought a 43c, 617-6, 63 and I have a ruger bearcat because I have a bunch of 22s and I have been able to buy 22s. All so me and family can shoot for a long while.

Great find! And welcome to the club. They are hen’s teeth. When I found one, I didn’t hesitate to grab it.

When I was young my Dad very sternly told me
" Boy , don't ever sell a gun you like ...chances are you'll never see another like it ! "
... The old man was right

I'll do you one better on "during an ammo shortage" comment. My son always wanted a Webley Mark VI and I found an uncut for a reasonable price around 2 years ago, .455 Eley. I then found an arsenal refinished New Service, also 1916, tight as a vault, in the same caliber, for $300 + shipping. Ever price out .455 loaded ammo? If you can find it? So...I bought a pile of Starline cases, dies from Lee, and interestingly enough, found a precision maker of unusual bullet molds in Slovenia, my grandparents home country. Ordered an original spec 265 grain RNHB mold, sized and lubed with SPG. Both guns shoot like houses afire using 4.5 gr Unique. So...one can overcome ammo shortages with a bit of creativity.

I bought my 58 from my uncle, and to help "talk me into" buying it, he gave me about 270 rounds of hollow points.

Now those are worth their weight in gold! (not really, but you know what I mean)

I probably overpaid for the gun, but I got the last laugh with current ammo prices being what they are!

If you are going to own a 41 magnum with fixed sights ...
Casting your own bullets in several different weights and reloading your cases will go a long way to keep you happily Shooting .

With a little load adjustment, bullet weight and powder charge , I can get my model 58 to shoot to the sights , I don't miss adjustable sights and ammo cost is way down there .
Starline makes 41 magnum brass and ... 41 Special Brass !
I have a 41 Special load worked up with a bullet from a NOE Wadcutter Mould that is super accurate .
The model 58's were made right with proper tolerances and just beg to be shot ... they like to crowd the holes close together .
If you have one ... Shoot It !
