Default Let's See those Model 15 Snubs

I finally got around to taking a few photos of my 2" Barreled Model 15-4. They are quite photogenic, and a fun addition to any collection.

I'd love to see photos of your snub-nose model 15s.

Thanks for letting me share,

Same gun, different grips. I use the checkered laminated grip and a Tyler T-grip adapter usually.

My 15-2 came with elk/stags on it already, but the original grips were included. Bought it at a gun show in 2012.

I have two nickel 15-4s and a (ugh) Cerakoted 15-2 that I picked up because the serial number included my old badge number.
The Nickels aren't in pristine condition, but they aren't bad, either.
The Cerakote actually doesn't look terrible in person. I think they colored the cylinder a shade or two lighter than the frame. Kind of an interesting look. If that paint came off easily, I think I'd have it re-blued, because there don't seem to be any obvious flaws like deep scratches or gouges from dropping. The grips are some I bought here on the forum. The name inside looks like "Vintage" brand(?) and they fit and feel great.
Also shown in the first photo is "lesser" sister Model 10-5.
Sorry, my vertical photos won't flip up properly for me.

For some reason I've always wanted a 2" 15 with Spegel Boot Grips.

Anyone have a picture of that set up???????

Here's my 15-3, also with a set of Ken's elk grips. I just need to find an appropriate holster for it.

My wife's bed side defender. It was a duty/back up gun for an officer and shows honest wear. The grips were added to make target acquisition easier during the low light conditions.

Kevin, that’s a hard act to follow.
15-2 with the original box. The Lawrence full flap rawhide laced holster was made for a 2” model 15.

Risking repeating myself, one more time, but I think it's worth it. Non-original grips of course.

Thanks for sharing it,
The 15-2 probably shipped in 1963. Lawrence started using the 3 digit size code on their holsters in 1963 or 4 so it was made after that.
The revolver came from the Gary Garbrecht collection.
Thanks and regards,

I've always wanted a 2" Model 15.

Why do you think that they made these with Square Butts rather than Round Butts like the 2.5" Model 19's/66's? Or at least given the consumer the option like with 2" Model 10's?

Here's my 15-3 sitting in some junk bin grips that happen to be very sweet looking IMHO. Have no idea who made them.

can you tell me the purpose of the grip adapter? Is it to make the grip larger or what?

Now there is a question I'd love to get the answer to!
I have wondered that myself since my first encounter with a 2" 15 back in the mid 1970's, although I've since discovered (and own) the 2" Model 10 square butt.
Do any of the senior members have any idea? Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I get the feeling it's got to be a cool answer. Please share!!!

I have always wanted one and have passed on a couple of opportunities in the past. I love the look even though I have often wondered about adjustable's on a 2". I bet someone here has one that has been round butted!Odd that they never made this configuration since the 19's and 66's were round butts.

Had one I got for a great price years ago.
Traded away for a 4” to have full length ejection and figured the longer barrel sight radius would be more accurate ( it really isn’t)
I have sold lots of guns over the years but that one is on the very short list of those I regret
( it was pretty rough a true shooter grade which is how I like them)

Very few S&W revolvers can match the good looks of a Model 15 with a 2" barrel...

The adaptors greatly improve the “feel” of the gun, without having to increase the grip in size.

My Mod 15 has a funny story. I bought my Dad a M1911 for Christmas and he seemed to like it until one day he said he wanted to trade it for my Mod 15. No problem, so he kept it close at home and when he traveled. In 1986 it came back to me. So, here it is:

Enjoy!

Default LE Model 15-2

My wife inherited her grandfather's 1962 Model 15-2. He was Chief of Detectives in Downey, CA in the late 50s into the 1970s. This was his service revolver with Pachmayr grip enhancer, which he carried in a Bucheimer suede clip-on belt holster along with a tooled leather 6-rd belt carrier. This one is a little strange since per the s/n manufacture date is 1962, all numbers match, but supposedly (SCSW 4th Ed.) the 2" barrel wasn't introduced until 1964. I guess it must not have shipped until 1964. Anyway, this 15-2 is in excellent condition and shoots great. My wife qualified for her CCW with it.

Thanks for sharing pictures of some very nice model 15 snubs. That is one model and barrel length I have always been hopeful to find.

My 15-2 has the heavy barrel, so it's after 64 and before 67. I bought it around 20 years ago at a LGS that got lots of police trade-ins. It is worn and the stocks are beat. I later picked up a 95-98% 4" to go with it. My Brother had a 99% 14-2 to complete the family but sold it cheap without giving me a chance to buy it.
