Default 38 special CTG Model 15-3 nickel 4” barrel

The wife and I, have recently come in to possession of her late father’s somewhat large Smith & Wesson revolver collection. We could use some help in finding out the shipping date. As well as, pricing this particular model for private sale.
38 S.W. Special CTG model 15-3 nickel plated 4in barrel.
Serial number: K883947. Also, have original box, manual, wax paper, warranty card and stock magna grips.

That is a beauty! I like the Hogue grips, too.
The cylinder release (thumb piece) is not "special," it's simply a new-style one. Perhaps the original was lost or (as is the case with many shooters) your late father-in-law changed it because the original interfered with loading and unloading the cylinder.
Don't know how long it's been, but sorry for your family's loss.
Welcome to the Forum. I hope you'll return, because as the best place on the internet for everything Smith and Wesson, you'll find the answers to any questions you might have about the rest of your new-to-you collection.

An absolute beauty!
Last weekend I traded my newly acquired 4” nickel 15-3. Perhaps I should have kept it.
