Collector’s value? Not sure. Are the 100% condition and unfired since they left the factory? Yes? Than maybe. If they are good, solid condition revolvers and a fair representation of the Model, yes, they have value. The hard part is matching your valuation with a buyer.

Gunshots need to make a profit on each sale so they offer less to buy so they can add their markup to the price.

Auction houses get their cut from the buyer, or the seller, or both. You might get your best price there but you get a fraction.

For sale ads have pitfalls also.

It all depends on what you want to do and realize from the sale.

A lot depends on the condition. No rust, pitting scratches etc. Do you still have the boxes and tools. As a case in point, I am sure the nickel 19-4 X 2" is probably worth considerably more than you purchased it for if you bought in in say 1980.

If you know how to post pictures here, that will help with determining a fair value. You can also list them for sale here on this forum.

The area of the country you live in can have a lot to do with value

Make a list of what you have with pictures if you can, and accurate descriptions and condition.

Selling them to a dealer will be the quickest and easiest way to sell them, but certainly you will not realize the most return on your investment

The people on this forum will probably be one of your biggest assets to determine value

Welcome to the forum!

Collectors value has always been an interesting term to me. I personally believe that every single smith and wesson in at least fair condition has "collectors value." Not all collectors collect extremely rare 100% guns, me being one of them.

You have two great revolvers though that i am sure any smith and wesson enthusiast would love to own. The 2.5" nickel 19 is definately a highly sought after gun and i am sure would sell quickly. The 325 is a desirable gun but significantly newer. I am sure you will have no trouble selling either if you decide to do so.

A hearty welcome to the OP! You have made a very fine entrance with those attractive sounding Smiths. Short barrel nickel plated Model 19s are always popular. And S & W has apparently suspended most or all of its 45 ACP models, yet 45 ACP is attractive to many of our members.

You'll find this great Forum a friendly and insightful resource in your consideration of what to do next.

All best to you.

You got some great advice here and as noted, if your guns are truly new and in the box, you will get some good offers if you or someone can post some pictures. Most of the guys here can walk you through the manner in which to have a quick and successful sale at a fair price. If you list your location, likely a member lives close and you might even get a face to face sale.

Put them on Gunbroker with good photos and descriptions and you’ll see exactly how much value they have.

"Collector value" is fuzzy versus value. Would "collectors" want the guns described, some would, others depending on their interests, perhaps not so much. The guns appeal to many of us "aggregators" though and would be easy to sell in the $800-$1000 range right here on the Classified side of the Forum. If you're asking is there a premium that collectors would pay? Maybe but the range I've shown is what I would pay, others might pay more. Good luck and welcome to the Forum.

If the model 19 looks like new it is probably worth $1250 or more.
Not sure on the 325.

If you have had these guns 20 years or more and have not been shot and are still in like new condition you should see value of probably 3 times what you originally paid for them. Selling at auction you will normally get the greatest price, but there is the sellers commission of 10% to 15% deducted from that. When you consider the advertising, the shipping, packing, postage, insurance, etc. their commission is often less than you would have to pay to do it yourself.

If you have a friendly FFL that would ship guns for you that can be a big savings. Most FFL's will charge in the range of $35 plus actual postage to ship a gun.

I have sold over 120 guns in the last two years, and nearly all are through an auction house and have been very pleased with the results.

Several posters have put dollar figures on these with out seeing a picture. Several others have given a range of prices but no one, including myself, have offered to write a check. And, I am interested in both. However, the OP has not come back to say anything about the advice offered.

Mr Kevin, maybe you are young and reactive. The OP said he is in his eighties : for sure he is not a "native digital" and time runs slowly . Be patient and wait, maybe NRAUR2 will come back.

As others have suggested, if these guns are truly in new and unfired condition, then they will have no trouble finding willing buyers. The question, as always, is the price.

I'd conservatively put the Model 19 at a thousand dollars, but others estimate of $1250 is probably achievable. The 19 has definite collector appeal since it's a pre-lock gun.

The 325PD is a bit harder to value, but on that one I'd conservatively wager a thousand dollars as well (again, assuming that it truly is new-in-box). The airlight guns are a more niche market item, and this gun isn't quite as old as the Model 19 (the 325PD came out in 2004), so it's right on the edge of being a "collector" piece. Still, it's chambered in .45 ACP, which is a very popular caliber.

I saw a snub blue 19 sell at auction today for $1100. It was NIB. If you have the box and papers for your 19, it should bring at least that and probably more.

A NIB nickel M19-4 with a 2-1/2" barrel, unfired since factory and with tools and papers should be worth about $1500 if in perfect condition. I paid $1200 for an unfired 2-1/2" RB ANIB M66-1 (relatively same age as a M19-4) with box and paperwork last year. SCSW says the 2-1/2" barrel and nickel finish both bring a premium to the M19's. The dash-4 is also the last M19 P&R series.
