Nickel Md 18 no dash from the Factory
A guy walked by my table in Tulsa a few weeks ago and had this beauty with him. I was able to buy it from him and add it to my collection. I now own the only two nickel Md 18 no dash guns I have ever seen. This one is 28 digits off my first one. As you can see from the third photo, it has been shot very little. Both the frame and under the ejector have the small "n" stamped on them. Not sure if I will keep the pair or let another collector enjoy it.
You can click on the pictures for a better look.

I know they exist, but I have never seen a factory nickel Model 18. And I have been shooting S&W revolvers for more than 60 years, collecting them for 50.
A very nice find!!!

I like it. It could keep this one company.

Jim, you should gift that 18 to me. It would make me very happy.
MERRY CHRISTMAS

That's a beauty.
I wonder how the production numbers of nickel Model 18s and Model 17s compare?

Genuine nickel Model 18s are very scarce. Nice find.
I am fortunate to own a pre-18 that has a factory nickel finish. It shipped in 1955. In the factory letter for it Roy confirmed that the gun shipped with a nickel finish and described it as "an uncataloged finish".

Very nice Jim. Congrats and thanks for sharing with the rest of us. I'm curious if your other one has a blued front sight, with proud sight pins? All of my nickel 4-screw and 5-screw guns (mostly N-Frame .357s and a few Combat Magnum .357s) have a blued front sight and the proud pins.
Thanks again for sharing that beauty!

My Model 18 ND shipped 4/1959. Yours are beautiful.
I bought it off this forum in 2017. Came with box and tools.

I have observed about 8 or 9 nickle Model 18 auctions through the years and so far observed most if not all to have the nickled front sight. The serial numbers if I recall were on the high side in the four hundred thousands range.
I Think it might take an early Model 18 for a black front sight.
